UPDATE: no luck =/
It seems that it usually happens if I alt+tab (minimize) the game, sometimes once is enough, some times need a bit more.
UPDATE: in 3 consecutive launches of a Vulkan version had fps dropping seconds after loading the game. After that launched DX11 version. Had no stress so far and got higher FPS, comparing to Vulkan. Tho it loads CPU 2x times more. Also, some friends of mine who also play GRB are having the same issue after the last update.
Happens to me also, but only using Vulcan. FPS drops to about 8 frames during cut scenes and after heavy action and becomes unrecoverable and have to restart game. Vulcan is thus unplayable after a while so will switch to normal API until a fix is found. Using a Nvidia GTX 2080 Super with latest drivers and an updated system.
Before the game update I had this issue, but it was really rare. After the game update it's like 90% change you gonna get a problem with Vulkan. Also we are talking about both AMD and Nvidia having this issue. Don't believe both parts would screw up drivers on the same day xDOriginally Posted by cub1100 Go to original post

Update
For me this seems to only happen with higher resolution settings, for about 10 days i was away from home and played at 1080p on a non 4k TV and never once had an issue. Back home now to my 4K TV & 4K Setting and its right back to randomly happening again. Alt Tabbing is definitely one of the main triggers but it can happen regardless, for instance it just happened after fast traveling to the cave and again after editing a teammate. i've had to restart my game 4 times in the last hour. i've once again tried deleting he vulkan shader files and there is no effect at all. I've really enjoyed this game but this bug makes it near impossible to play at times. Have you guys made any progress towards a fix at all?
Hey XxShalashaskaxX,
Thanks for the update there and I am sorry to hear that issue persists.
I know this might a longshot, as I am unaware of what video settings you have on, however some players stated that having terrain quality set to Ultra and above seemed to be triggering it. If yours is the same, exiting the game and lowering it to Very High should help. Ultra though seemed to be working fine on DX11.
Let us know!
Here's a Me Too post (not to be confused with #MeToo !), last night for absolutely no reason whatsoever my game started stuttering and losing FPS, with drops to 30 and lower.
See https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZqJRsLYFj9YyqeDN9 for the progression. In the end it straightened itself out and was back at 60 FPS (I have 60 FPS monitors, so don't expect more).
I play the DirectX version, but (and despite me deleting the shader file) see it under Vulkan as well.
As seen, playing at 2560x1440 (on a true 4K monitor).
AMD Ryzen 3900X
Sapphire RX 5700 XT
AMD Drivers 20.5.1 (clean install)
32 GB DDR4 3200Mhz RAM
Windows 10 Pro x64 - v2004
I have stutters when I use the record option in the AMD drivers. I have those stutters only in this game.
And I have those stutters since Update 2.1.0 because before I could make videos showing what problems I ran into without having the constant halts and stutters. Since 2.1.0 I can no longer do so.
tried AMD Drivers 20.7.1 but they added a very annoying flicker on both my monitors, so I returned to 20.5.1 with a clean install.
When playing and finding the stutters start I'll hit F1 twice and just see those FPS drop and drop. And that it's a congested area with lots of details? No, for most of the screen shots I was at the airbase in the Seal Islands region, the last was in the harbor in the same region (the one with the many many stairs I now seem to slide off of, because walking down stairs is broken again. I reported that but nobody seems to care.)
