The hunters is a misnomer. Change the name to the hunted.

No. Actually, the magically conjured mythical dust pixies with guns. That's more appropriate.

So I had not done the WONY hunters, and decided to give it a go. And really, you have got to be kidding me. The (arguably) best content in the game is behind a convoluted series of incoherent "puzzles" to start fights that should be coming to the player (i.e, the player being hunted by the hunters).

The original hunters, while still an incoherent mess to start the fights (saluting graves, steles, doing jumping jacks on an empty pool, etc), they were not anything close to the incoherent mess WONY dust pixies are.

And god forbid something goes wrong, you have to start the madness from the very beginning.

The first hunter I tried, the one in the construction site where you need to turn the spot lights on a specific sequence, spawned, healed himself twice, then just disappeared.
The second, I turned all the lion statues using the frozen eyes ????, only to have a patrol spawn behind me and kill me right as I spawned the dust pixie. So I switched to normal, because who needs the aggravation.
The 3rd try, by the Arch in NY, those went relatively well. Although I didn't get why the whole laundry thing. I guess those two were tidy.
But the 4th try, shooting christmas tree stars, then buildings at a specific times?? That was it for me.

yeah i agree , the puzzles are too complicated and specific, turns what could be a fun task into a major chore , and i cant even imagine how worse it would be without the guides on YT , its like the devs dont want us to do it .

... and I don't see how people did "solve" them without some dev guidance or hints.

I played a lot of Underground solo, with Challenging and all Directives. I had a fight with two hunters that went from one end of the map to the other. This was the best experience I had with the original.

I got all masks. I aquired them solo, except for the two and the four of Warlords, but it wasn't exactly the same fun with all the bugs, crashes and vanishings.

My only problem with the Hunters is the time gate. It's a real turn off when you just want to get them all done, especially with how many steps there are to some of them.

    Ah! Yes!
The sudden distortion and buzz... never got old.
