Xbox 360 wireless controller causes stuttering issue

Hi. I can get around 60 FPS playing the game when using the keyboard and mouse, and the game runs smoothly. However, as soon as I turn on my wireless controller, the game begins to stutter, as in it freezes for about half a second before continuing, and this happens about every 2 seconds. It makes the game unplayable with a controller, which is how I prefer to play. I resigned myself to using the keyboard controls until the first leap of faith, in which case they failed me and it wouldn't let me do it. This needs to be fixed.

I noticed in the main menu that when the game stutters, the mouse cursor appears for the duration of the stutter and then disappears when the game continues. My guess is that the game is auto-switching between kb/m and the controller input, causing lag. However, I can not find a way to disable auto-switching, or if this even the real problem. I am wondering if this is an issue for anyone else and if it also happens on an Xbox One controller or any other type of controller. Also, a fix would be nice.

    Hey there,

    Sorry for the delay.

I'd make sure your controller drivers are all up to date.

Otherwise, could you post your PC's specs?

    Thank you!

I have the same problem with a Xbox One controller with bluetooth.
Game run at 60fps and after 30~45mn of playing it suddendly drop at 4fps.
When I disconnect the controller fps goes up again.

    Hey DidyZ,

As above, have you ensured your controller drivers are all up to date?

Or do you have a wired controller you're able to test to see if it's the Bluetooth connection?

I have the exact same problem. The symptoms are also identical with the mouse popping in and out in the main menu. I am using an xbox 360 wireless controller.

    Hello there Sudo93!

Apologise for the delayed response. Thanks for providing that information.

If possible, would you be able to try using your Xbox controller via a wired connection instead of a wireless connection, to see if the issue persists? This will allow us to work out if it's a connection issue or something else. Thanks!
