If Ubi didn't consistently drop the ball on making a decent MP component, maybe the editor wouldn't be at risk. MP does see a far lower user engagement for a game in the genre than many others where the MP is more of a focal point after all, I think they said on the high end they see about 30% of users actively engage in the MP for the FC titles, which is pretty low for an FPS game, but most FPS MP is the primary draw, not so with Far Cry though...
I do believe Far Cry Arcade will still be around for Far Cry 6, they usually reveal multiplayer and map editor shortly before the game is released. The leaks are still relatively new so it is too early for anyone to judge or confirm anything. What is confirmed is the cover art, villains, locale, co-op, protagonist, makeshift weapons, vehicles, 'Amigos' (Guns for Hire?) and Fangs for Hire.

The leaked Hong Kong Playstation page description very much describes a Cuba/Venezuela like setting. Although I'm sad its not set in a real location, I'm glad its set in a Cuba-like setting and situation where we could be a revolutionary fighting against Castillo's armed forces.

I'm surprised and somewhat disappointed its coming to PS4 and Xbox One instead of being next gen exclusive. Its time to put the PS4/Xbox One era to rest and focus all efforts on next gen. I know it will get an enhanced port for next gen later on, but the fact its coming to current gen means it will likely be held back technically.

The player character better have a voice, personality, and emotions. I sick of playing as a drone after FC5 and New Dawn. For me, I'm not really as concerned with the multiplayer or editor. I just want a good in-depth Far Cry single player that fixed the issues Far Cry 5 had with its world, interactions, vehicles, and detail. It would be nice if they did fix the issues that the multiplayer and editor had in the past.

Interesting rumor is that there is some connection between Castillo's son Diego and Vaas. I assume Michael Mondo will be playing as Diego as a separate character from Vaas. If it was a younger Vaas, that would mean Far Cry 6 would be set in the 80s. That wouldn't make sense given the official artwork depicts the revolutionaries in current-era clothing and the trailer showed Castillo using a electric lighter.

    • Considering they've never used a real location in Far Cry before, why start now? Making fictionalized versions of locales provides them with far more flexibility anyway, I have zero issue with fictional settings "inspired" by real world places and I don't really see how restricting themselves in that way would benefit the games in any way.

    • As for being a cross-gen title, can't say I'm surprised in the slightest. The game (as of now) is scheduled to release within 6 months of the new consoles, which due to the state of the world will no doubt be selling faster than stock can be replenished, not to mention said stock likely being lower than it may have been. It makes financial sense for them to go cross gen as current systems have a vastly higher install base than next gen systems will when the game releases. Third party developers aren't so quick to abandon outgoing consoles as first party typically is. Far Cry 4 was a cross gen title as well.

    • Definitely with you on bringing a voice back to the character. They had their experiment with mutes on the last couple games, it doesn't really have a positive effect, so I hope they see that. The fact that the protag has a name this time at least seems to suggest they'll have a voice as well. We can only hope for now, haha.

They used real locations with Far Cry 2, 3, 4, and 5.
    - FC2 was set in an unnamed country in Africa
    - FC3 was set in Rook Islands which is actually a real location in Indonesia (The NPCs in FC3 speak a mix of Indonesian and Malay)
    - FC4 was set in Nepal (Called Kyrat) and in the Himalayas
    - FC5 was set in Montana USA with Hope County

Even though they created fictional names and locations for Far Cry, they mostly took place in real world locations. I understand what you mean and I have no problem. Since they took it further with FC5, I was hoping they would take it a step further with FC6. I guess they chose fictional because it was easier for the devs to make up some things for flexibility or to avoid legal/political issues.

It may help financial-wise for making it cross-gen. But I can't help but feel that Far Cry 5 already used up all the power of the PS4 and Xbox One. Unless the Dunia Engine limited anything, I can't see them stepping up in tech unless they either use a better engine or take complete advantage of next gen consoles. Its likely the next gen version of FC6 will be some ray-tracing or lighting/shadow resolution improvement since the devs would be unlikely to make it radical improvement over current gen for the sake of keeping both versions the same like with FC4.

From a development standpoint it is more efficient to work on the lowest common denominator and then apply better fx and textures to pc and next-gen console versions.

Yeah man, fictionalized versions of real world locations, same thing here. Yara is a fictionalized version of Cuba and other Latin American locations, same as Kyrat was to Nepal and Hope County was to Montana, I am not seeing what is different about this situation I guess....

The Ubisoft Forward event had some extra trailer content for FC6. Besides that, its basically just the trailer that was leaked yesterday.

Nah they've been trying to abandone the best feature of the game for a decade. They continued to made the MP worse and worse each game despite the community being mostly on the same page about what we want. They have deliberately ignored us so they can cut the feature completely. Just surprise they didn't cut it in 5.

I can understand how this would be the perspective of a one time fan of the MP component, but I also understand some of the rationale behind Ubi's decisions as well. Guess we'll have to wait and see if there is still a MP and ME mode for this game, but if not, it's won't be surprising.

That's because they listened. At least Far Cry 5 is a step into the right direction. It may be disappointing to you, but at least we have multiplayer with vehicles.
