Why is this game so dead ?

I absolutely love this game and purchased 2 copies during the Steam sales

I've played for 30 hours and absolutely love it !

It has much of the same atmosphere as Evolution but WAAAY better !

But somehow the forums are dead ??

shouldn't there be a ton of people coming in during the sale - or is this game totally dead ?

    won't there come more DLC's ?

I have noticed the drop in community activity alot over the years. Not just here in Trials, but in several gaming communities. Though I can't say exactly why, as the reasons are many and vary depending on the player's perspective. What I do know is, only a small number of players of any game ever join a community. In fact, I would say the average player, who just likes to play the game, would rarely, if at all, join a community.

I keep trying to get back into trials, I was a full on trials addict for years since trials HD, making tracks, entering competitions and climbing the leaderboards, I can easily say out of all the games this game has had the biggest impact on me. The only real issue (for me anyway) is the performance of the game, over the years we have seen countless bugs but we've continued to play despite these bugs because of our love for the game. Trials rising has all the looks and deapth of a trials game that we could possibly wish for but with performance issues like the constant frame freeze every 30 seconds grinding tracks become very frustrating. Also lots of performance issues while track editing you spend most of the time battling against lag rather than building your track, and playing tracks that have been shared cross platform can sometimes play very poorly if it was made on a different platform to your own. Performance is everything in a game but even more so in a game that requires such precise controls as trials does. I think this is likely a big reason why many have stopped being as active, these days I only load trials up once or twice a month but end up turning it off within the hour because I just get too frustrated with the frame freeze making me loose good runs.

The devs sent it out to die, unfortunately. Sure, they had their DLC and MTX plans for a year after launch, but they didn't actually plan to improve the game or build the community in any way. They were just going through the motions after launch. I think the people making the high quality tracks care, but everyone else doesn't give a damn, including the leadership.

The most telling example is Steam reviews, which have forever been "Mixed". Anyone who isn't already a fan of Trials and sees that, is going to pass. Never mind the fact it shouldn't have launched like that, it would have been so so easy to listen to the early feedback (which they should already have been aware of) and fixed it quickly and easily:

    1. Lootboxes were an anchor and served no purpose anyway. Could have just rewarded players with game currency and let them browse the store for cosmetics.

    2. Progression turned off a lot of people. It would have taken 10 minutes to change the levels needed to unlock various leagues, just drop whatever the current player level requirements were by 10-20. So easy.

    3. Fix the stuttering which was seen in the beta and is still an issue for some players now on some platforms.

    4. Actually do the Track Central work they said they were going to.

    5. Fix bugs quickly. Months would go by with broken replays, or Track Central favorites not working correctly, or one of the contracts being impossible then being half-fixed then finally properly fixed.

Just fix those things after launch and I bet the reviews and word of mouth would have turned around, then the sales, and with it community longevity.

Rising is simply inferior to Fusion. I have no reason to go back to Rising. If they give it away via PS+/GwG I'm sure it will get livelier. At least for a while.

Have you checked that Resolution is correctly setup AND HZ in game = HZ of monitor ?
Also - enable VSYNC in game as well as Nvidia control panel .

Thanks dude, I'm not sure how to actually do that but I'll have a look and see, having said that though all other games work fine it's just trials that I have an issue with performance. Thanks for the advice I'll see if I can do the things you mentioned

Kinda seem like most people have at least a little occasional stutter, so I don't think it's so much your system as maybe a combination of things. I get stutters sometimes, but only when playing online, which makes me think it's bandwidth / buffering / cache related or something along that line.

Networking in this game seems very unstable / slow.

I have 1 Gigabit internet which is super stable in all regards. and yet - this game is still slow at loading ressources from the internet.

Disabling ghosts makes it WAY faster to load tracks and the interface is much smoother.

Interesting to know with the ghosts. (makes sense with ghosts being a good deal more data) I too have 1 gigabit internet so I don't think it's IP related.
Might be interesting to know how many players are in the game and online when the stutters happen. Maybe certain times of day are worse than others.
I'm not great with tech stuff, but figure the more ideas we all share the more it might help pin this down, and wipe it out. even if it's a process of elimination. Like I said, I never get stutters offline & things like that should help narrow it down.
