This is just the campaign. The multiplayer will be on a separate title developed by a different studio.

That's not even impossible actually. A separate F2P Arcade and Editor would be so cool actually

Michael Mando, the actor behind Far Cry 3‘s iconic villain Vaas, seems to have hinted at a return to the franchise. Mando, also known for Better Call Saul, took part in a recent Reddit AMA, wherein he was asked about Vaas. In response to whether or not people still recognize him as the Far Cry antagonist, the actor replied,

Thank you so much! Vaas is my spirit animal – having co-created that character is something that will always be dear to me. I still get recognized as Vaas, and I still feel the outpouring of love for that character – makes me very happy. Who knows… maybe I will reprise the role very soon? Thank you for watching xo

Good analysis Fallen-Champ! I wonder who's going to be the actor playing younger Vaas. This is still speculation but sure as hell a plausible candidate.

I'm getting some Far Cry 1 and Far Cry Instincts vibes. Tropical islands and jungles with an old man as a villain.

I don't think Diego is Vaas. Vaas doesn't have that eyebrow slit on his right eyebrow on the Far Cry 3's cover art and his character model. Their noses don't even match.

Of course I could be wrong and they try to find a child actor who somewhat resembles Vaas.

It will be set in the year of release, just like all the other main FC titles. So it's virtually impossible for it to be a young Vaas. Unless we're going down time-travel avenue. Which seems highly unlikely.

I feel like simply because FC2/3/4/5 were set in the year they released does not mean ubisoft is beholden to that logic. This game might (and likely does) take place in modern day, but there is literally nothing stopping them from setting it in the 80's, 90's or whenever, that is not a precedent they're strictly bound to. I'm not really buying the "Diego = Vaas" theory either, but clinging to the "all numbered entries are and forever will be modern day" idea is not something I subscribe to either.
