Ubisoft you guys should never ever use excuses about building a game from the ground up which is why its online only its totally ridiculous. You made it online only because your company got lazy and online gaming in just a easy copy in paste job with minor different art work detail. Its pretty much a stream game service which needs to never be attempt again. The next time you update this game or make another Ghost Recon game stick to the script like in Wildlands offline. We all know that was a excuse to force us to microtransaction. Fix your games in give us better updates with more free content is the least your company can do. This game would be a masterpiece if your team just listen to the community a bit better.![]()
I have to agree here. I wasn't even aware the game required internet connection at all times in order to play until after I picked up my pre order. I had seen one advertisement for it in the store and it never crossed my mind it would be inaccessible without internet. Wildlands was an absolutely great game in every aspect in my opinion, and I believed Breakpoint was going to be a leap forward. The fact that Breakpoint requires access to the internet is ridiculous and limiting to the gaming community I feel. Wildlands works great offline, why is it Breakpoint doesn't function at all? At the title screen it says " You are now connected to the Ubisoft servers, Ubisoft content is now accessible " meaning the basic features of the game lol. It's stupid. You guys have looked into making it playable offline and found it would cause some sort of issues, so figure it out? I mean that's what you guys do. Make ba games work and play and function properly. For real, a lot of fans and players besides myself would be really appreciative of a move like that on your parts. That has been my biggest issue with the entire game overall.
I'd rather beta test the offline. i mean that's what a beta is for right? they said they tried but came up empty handed because of tech issues... well yeah... you're gonna have tech issues. Anybody that's played a steam EA game knows all about tech issues. I would literally go the route it takes to play DayZ offline if it meant playing this offline. For anyone that doesn't know, for DayZ to be played offline you have to download a mod, change 2 file names by adding a .disable, and throw the mod folder into the missions file. It's a pain in the butt when you also play online but I'm a trucker and after spending a few hours in breakpoint for the first time today I really got hooked, you guys really went the right direction with this game, minus the offline play. Ghost Recon has always been about tactics and you guys have really done great with these updates. just please, go with the offline and we'll beta test the crap out of it for you guys until it's working smoothly. That's great that you guys figured out something to help out the people with poor connection, like myself division 2 needs this done as well holy crap, but come on. this is a poor excuse.
***What they said incase anyone didn't see the new patch post***
Offline Mode
"Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint was built from the ground up to be an online experience. We heavily investigated the possibility of adding the option of an offline mode, but we were not able to come up with a solution that did not create an unacceptable amount of technical risks.
However, with TU 2.0.0, we are implementing an update that we hope will alleviate some of the frustration players experience with poor internet connection.
Our team identified that the service that was most difficult for players with inconsistent connections was the one that enabled matchmaking. With this new update, players who cannot maintain a sustained connection to matchmaking services will still be able to play solo PvE without being disconnected.
These players will still have all of the functionality of the game except access to multiplayer modes. While in this mode, your Friends List will appear empty.
The game will regularly re-test this connection in the background without impacting your play. You will be able to manually trigger a re-test of the connection by initiating matchmaking in multiplayer modes."
