    Why the screen shake when...

I know its been there from the start of the game but it was annoying me the other day and then I thought, why the hell is it doing this in the first place?

What is it? It is the screen shake you get when being shot at. Now, I understand screen shake if a grenade goes off, I understand screen shake if you get hit, I understand screen shake when you are shooting, but why in the name of zeus's does it shake when you are being shot at ???

Really? is a naughtyword? you snowflakes....

Well, have you ever worn a piece of armor, like a tactical vest, and had someone fire an assault rifle at your chest? I'm sure that your head would shake.

To be honest, I never really noticed this, so it definitely is not overdone. But the way they make you shake and be phased for a second when entering the capitol hill mission (both at the start and also when you enter the rotunda) -- that really irks me. Althought it is probably realistic, I hate having the game slow you down like that.

I already mentioned the shake from being hit, that part where I say, I understand screen shake if you get hit, might have given it away.

And whilst I was never shot, yes I was in the military so I have a pretty good understanding of how the world doesnt shake like that.

Maybe it's used as some sort of suppression fire, I cannot imagine anyone shooting accurately once being constantly shot at with any gun.

Same thing has annoyed the **** out of me for some time now, but i would describe it more of a flinch than an actual shake

    https://youtu.be/ki6mMUkCgzw

so I'm in cover... a shotgunner from 200m away shoots at me.... and my screen flinches, seriously wtf!!

and suppression would make sense.. if it was a LMG or even an AR at close range.. but it happens every time you are shot at, test it, go behind some really solid cover and watch your screen jump around when you are being shot at

i noticed it a lot when WoNY was released, i dont recall it happening prior to that

I don't see anything in that video except the transfer of momentum from the shots being fired, as they strike that truck you are covered behind it moves it a bit.

The screen shake is usefull when you're fast traveling to some open area or when you're browsing the menus. It's quite a good visual hint to know that you're under attack. And it is also quite normal to affect your character's position and stance. It's inertia. Your character is not a wall.
