hello,
i've been having this issue since i got the game months ago. every time i start the game it crashes to desktop within 5 minutes regardless of whether i'm in-game or in the main menu. there's no error, no indication that anything is wrong, it just crashes and that's it.
i've searched and searched and tried every suggestion/fix out there. nothing worked and nothing has improved the situation.
this is a list of possible fixes i've applied:
1. dx11 instead of dx12
2. putting pagefile on system-managed
3. increasing pagefile size
4. running as administrator
5. disabling fullscreen opitimization
6. enabling high dpi override
7. disabling uplay overlay
8. disabling geforce overlay
9. enabling debug mode in nvidia control panel
10. updating bios
11. enabling optimal settings via geforce experience
12. running on lowest settings
13. running on highest settings
14. running in windowed/borderless/fullscreen
15. disabling/uninstalling rgb software
16. disabling all background applications
17. updating graphic card drivers
18. updating motherboard/chipset drivers
19. checked system temperatures, nothing is overheating
20. deleting all directories relating to division 2 in documents/my games
21. reinstalling uplay
22. uninstalling/reinstalling/verifying the game
23. uninstalling/reinstalling/repairing easyanticheat
24. launching the game on mechanical drive
25. launching the game on solid-state drive
26. launching the game from the same drive uplay/eac is on
27. launching the game from the system drive (c
there might be other things i've tried that i don't remember but none of the above fixes have improved anything. it always crashes within 5 minutes of launching the game.
specs:
skylake z170
i7 6700k
geforce 1070 gtx
32gb ram
nothing is overclocked
i really want to play this game but i'm getting so fed up with not being to play it for more than 5 minutes a time. please help.
thanks.
also this is literally the only game i have this issue on. all other games work perfectly fine, including all other uplay games. all the far crys, all the assassin creeds, for honor, steep, the crew 1-2, ghost recon wildlands, ghost recon breakpoint, splinter cell blacklist, trials rising/fusion/evolution, watch dogs 1-2, etc, etc. all work fine without issue.
Are you running XMP2 on your RAM. If so, reset BIOS to default and make sure XMP is not enabled; let the BIOS choose loose timings on the RAM.
Sometimes motherboard chipsets and RAM combinations just don't support the XMP timings on XMP2 even though they say they do. I had constant crashes before I messed with my RAM timings and I know it can be a problem on Intels as well.
If that works you can tweak RAM timings yourself to be slightly less aggressive.
Also, make sure you are actually running DIV 2 on your external GPU and not the Intel® HD Graphics 530. I've seen someone confirm this as a problem on here before.
Another issue is the 4 core Intel CPU. This game likes multithreading and runs really well on AMD Ryzen. I had an Intel before the Ryzen and it wasn't good at all on Division 2 but run perfectly fine on Division 1 but at least yours has 8 threads whereas mine only had the 4... This shouldn't cause crashes to the desktop though.
Stick to DX11 also.
Hope this helps.
Adze, I love your reply, but I have no idea what it all means and how to do the fix, because I am not tech savvy. I just upgraded my rig with an I-Core 9 with a new motherboard and 8 TB of storage. I did keep my Nvidia 1060, just to test it out, but I have a feeling that even upgrading to a 1080 TI or 2080 won't solve my constant crashing and getting disconnected from the internet issues. Could it be my ISP that is causing the problem? Not enough speed. even though I have the top speed available in my area. Should I switch from Centurylink to Xfinity that offers more speed? No other game that I own gives me this problem and I own over 200 games. The crashes are happening at the same rate that they did with my older I-Core, so I'm frustrated and don't know how to solve the problem and Ubisoft tech is not willing to help. How do I reset my Bios to default while making sure that XMP is not enabled? I don't want a change where it messes up all my other games either. Thanks in advance!
Also having repeat crash issues. I've gone through a **** ton of the recommended fixes as well. For Honor is fine, every other game is fine. Division 2 crashes to desktop whenever the hell it feels like. It could be on launch, it could be 5-10 minutes in, it could be 50 minutes in. It's a waste to try to play at this point, and I purchased the expansion very recently and reinstalled it to play through prior to the new raid. The game ran flawlessly during launch on this same PC, yet now it struggles, and again, it's only Division 2.
I7-7700K, 16GB RAM, 1080TI.
DX11, DX12, doesn't matter. Overlay on or off, doesn't matter. Admin rights, repaired, reinstalled, never finds any bad files, tried it on my SSD and on my regular drive. Just non-stop issues. I don't understand what's fundamentally changed from launch to now to cause my machine to just repeatedly crash. Event Viewer shows it's just Division2 failing. One time, it gave a memory management BSOD, and cited Division 2's executable.
All I can day dream up is that there's some kind of memory leak and my computer can't get around it for whatever reason. Which is odd because I can run Tarkov for 8 hours straight no problems, and Tarkov ACTUALLY has memory leak issues from time to time.
an update.
i've been going back and forth with ubisoft tech support for the past several days, and so far i've tried the following.
1. system file check with sfc in command prompt
2. error checking with chkdsk in command prompt
3. disabling non-windows services and background applications
4. uninstalling/reinstalling/repairing runtime apps (visual c++, .net core, .net framework, etc)
none of it helped one bit, it still crashes at around 1 minute and 55 seconds. i've been using a stopwatch to time it and it crashes on the same exact second every time. it's the weirdest thing.
I have constant crashes since the minute I installed the WONY DLC - before I played hours and hours on end without ever having a single CTD - ever.
Now I get CTDs sometimes even during the first loading screen. So if anyone suggests that this is something else then an error on the game side, please stuff it.
I have tried way to many "suggestions" already and now I really regret ever spending money in the DLC![]()
