I'm gonna share my experiences with you.Originally Posted by Sircowdog1 Go to original post
If I wanna go for a full red build, with my RNG, I'm gonna miss at least 5% WD/item, 2% CHC/item, 5% CHD/item. Now do the math & decide if missing that much damage output on a full red build is ok with you. Also, please take into consideration that they (all 3) NEVER drop that generous on a single item for me. They only drop with generous values in a rainbow mix or with the other 2 attributes of the same color that have no single use to me.
Don't even get me started on the chances of a useful talent!
I could make a full yellow build, but I'm really not that much into a skill build. I don't like them & wouldn't see myself doing them. I do respect & appreciate all the XXX wizards out there that start creating havoc on the screen with sparkly effects that can hold a flank on their own. I could consider myself doing a hybrid build, but with the way Massive screws over the AI with each patch I can't risk on having skills auto-targeted & instantly destroyed by out-of-balanced-NPC's or (like the current state of the game) skills not working properly altogether OR having skill gearsets broken as intended.
This way I'm actually forced to rely on a above decent DPS build with some survivability thrown in there.
Tank?! I guess I could start reliving the D3FNC adventures I had in the incursion with the hostages & minigun, but this one falls into the same category as the full red build. The attributes FAIL to drop accordingly or with decent % values. It's the same as the experience trying to make a full red build.
I know, I could just play with what I have & can. But why not throwing a bone here & there for the players?!
What, do I need more time to play this?
Ok. I've played it since release, almost each day, at least 4h/day.
Wrong difficulty?
I do this in the hardest difficulty.
Not qualified?
Commendation tier 13 & engage in every activity each session. Not repeating the same thing all over for 4h.
So I'm pushing all the buttons available at my disposal. Why isn't the game rewarding stuff with above decent/mediocre values or specific with the brand? Something tells me it is more broken than anything else I could think of.
Except if this is actually intentional...
The main part of the game is to find better equipment whats so hard to understand about that.Goes all the way back to Division one. Its one of the goals in the game. I have an all yellow build and the stats make a big difference. But mine are all God roles I searched and fought for them and it was worth it
same here, except all my tu9 pieces were trash as well...Originally Posted by rampantsquirrel Go to original post
I took a break from the game, and came back a week before WONY. about a week or so after WONY, when i was level 40 was when I collected the majority of the gear I currently use.. there are one or two new pieces, but certainly none from after tu10 except the new gear set ones. even the new talents just got stripped and recalled onto older items in my stash.
Not that I wouldn't love to see the return of the optimization station, but It's not just about finding the perfect/maxed out gear. Just wanting to try different builds is a pain, because you can't get gear pieces anywhere near decent for the build you have in mind, no matter how silly the build is.Originally Posted by Sircowdog1 Go to original post
I used to play The Secret World (the original, not that aberration Legends) and make all sorts of weird builds just to see what happened, and once in a while I ran into builds that, while not maxed out, were extremely good for certain situations. At one point, I had 70-some builds saved. A buddy of mine had over 120. Sure, it took a bit of time to get the pieces to make the build you wanted, but there was a clear path to obtaining said pieces, and upgrading said pieces, to yield an effective build.
Now, I obviously don't expect to have that many builds in TD, or the builds to be as diverse as TSW (try DPS heal tank using AR/fighting claws for size) , but it'd be nice to have a clear path to obtaining/upgrading/recalibrating/crafting the gear you want. And no, targeted loot isn't it, not with the way RNG works.
The chase is the whole point. Once your build is stable, you either go and try something else, or try and maximize it.Originally Posted by Sircowdog1 Go to original post
At the moment both options seem to be quite out of the window, unless you're one of the lucky few who somehow get all the gear they want without any difficulty.
This 100%.....even if your gear is almost maxed out and you do get an upgrade that maybe just adds a extra 1% CHC that will not even have any impact on the game it's still a nice feeling.Originally Posted by desrocchi Go to original post
It's always a good feeling to be rewarded even if it comes in minuscules amount.
