Yes, those that are trying to make their characters the best they can be. If you played the game much at all, you did too, at least at one point.
With that said, the gear score is not the be all, end all of character build. A matching or complimentary set of pieces greatly overshadows a max score build based solely on gear score. But, a great build with the right set maximized opens up all the possibilities of end-game content. Then, if the game is too easy at the end game with your maxed out build, then start using other gear sets and/or self-imposed restrictions such as pistol only, no healing, no grenades...
Because of how long I have spent in the game, it had gotten stale. So, I started experimenting with odd skill builds just to see how viable. Use a 4 piece reclaimer with low electronics and higher firepower and stamina. That worked well to help new players get the hang of Resistance. Or, use Alpha all electronics so you get the 4 free talents. Or, all electronics Nomad if you simply want to run "no downed" missions so you get the extra life(s). You get the idea.
Bambihunter71 Thanks very much for a very informative run downit is helping me to understand a bit better. The funny thing though is that I had Warlord drop when I was level 11 or something, I didnt think anything of it but see the beauty of it while I was getting gear levels up. I have played this game in reverse so to speak, I have a maxed out character in Div 2 and started this up about 2 weeks ago, I wished I played it from the start. Also Im trying to find some guidance on what weapons I should be going for. Anyway thanks again.
Regards
There are a gazillion guides already out there so not going to cover it all. Just make sure it is for a later version of the game. We are 1.8+ now, so anything made in the past couple of years should be fine. They made a LOT of changes since the beginning, and again major changes at version 1.4 so those old guides aren't as relevant.Originally Posted by Strut-64 Go to original post
Assuming you are at the end game, most people gravitate to a build like this (this is for PvE solo on challenging content):
Gear set:
Striker
Nomad
D3
Predator
The exotic gear pieces are mostly no good. Ferro's Mask can be OK here or there, such as when running the mission he is in. I use it on a rare occasion. The Ninja Bag is awesome if you get it early in the end game. However, once you get a good full classified gear set, then it too becomes situational. Chest, Gloves, and Holster are instant destruct for Div Tech. I may be the only one, but I find the Shortbow Kneepads to be handy on a rare occasion. Using a 5 piece classy Final Measure with them can allow you to grenade spam them as much as they are spamming you. It is kinda fun.
Weapons:
Lightweight M4 - Deadly, Destructive, Predatory. If you happen to get Ferocious in the free slot (3rd slot) then you can give up Deadly.
The House - Destructive and Predatory. This is a great SMG anyway, but with a D3 build, it is great.
Pistols, I go for a 12-15 round model. I leave the top stat that it always rolls with, and usually put Predatory as the 2nd talent, but you won't use the pistol very often so don't worry about it much.
Honorable mentions: Showstopper, Big Al, Hungry Hog, and if running the Striker (due to its extra built-in stability), then the Bullfrog. The MedVed is nice occasionally when needing shotgun commendations during GE's. I know a few people that use the Urban MDR to build stacks for Sentry since it is a semi-auto it counts, but it uses AR ammo instead. So, build stacks with head shots, then switch to marksman for big damage numbers.
Note that other than to get the achievements in collecting all the exotic weapons, most are just junk; Plain and simple. There are some that are situational, but ones like the Tommy Gun, Thompson, etc. just aren't worth using.
Mods:
For "on the move" run and gun type builds, I like to use a pair of 6% self heal mods and sometimes all 4 slots. For the D3, I use 2 Shield Damage, and 2 Shield resilience.
Talents:
Sorry, I don't remember the names that well. I have pretty much used the same ones for a type of build for years.
For those above I use "on the move", and the medical one in the upper left corner that removes status effects. The others can vary by mission, or by build. For instance, with the D3, I use the one that all healing heals your skills. This is a great way, combined with Health On Kill, Predatory, Sustained, etc. to keep your shield topped up.
Like I mentioned, I generally go solo, but if you or anyone else needs a hand for a bit at the end game to figure things out, or help with their build, shoot me a PM on here. I generally log in here at least once a week.
