....not to mention the fact that WLs map was absolutely massive in relation to most open world games out there. .....likely one of the biggest if not the biggest.Originally Posted by Keltimus Go to original post
There was still tons of space in WLs or a WLs sized map that they could build upon. If they had to, they could even shrink it a bit, add more content (e.g. more bases, cities, more NPCs, more enemy AI, etc.) and still make it feel huge as some have suggested in other threads.
Personally, I think they could do that without shrinking anything down with the next generation of consoles. I liked the sparseness of towns, etc. in the regions of WL but thought it should have been populated with more of them and made bigger. ......more bases, more NPCs in populated areas, bigger towns, cities, enemy patrols / activity, more side activities, more activity in towns/cities, interactive NPCs and so on.
Yes! Absolutely yes!Originally Posted by Virtual-Chris Go to original post
You could use those Devs obviously doing absolutely nothing in Breakpoint for that Project.
I’m hopeful. The new leader has been with Ubisoft Paris for 20 years. She’s had more of a business and marketing background by the sounds of it, so hopefully she will zero in on the business success of Wildlands, attempt to truly understand why it was successful, and work to ensure the next game in the franchise repeats that success with out letting the whimsical imaginations of the developers take over the project.Originally Posted by Megalodon26 Go to original post
An interview... https://news.ubisoft.com/en-us/artic...freshStatus=ok
If she asked me for advice, I would suggest a quick way to demonstrate success and put some cash in the coffers would be to relaunch an improved Wildlands on Next Gen consoles in early 2021. Marie, get on it please.

And I agree Kean, about both the sparse areas and the desire to have larger cites. Which kind of solve each other. Making towns/cites/bases larger takes up more area, meaning less empty area.![]()
Plus guys... It's never gonna happen, even with smaller maps. So why not?![]()
I get that some of you hold WL in such a high regards but really guys, you are still playing it right now, what would you do different with a remastered version that you are not doing right now?
Not that they are listening to us anyways but, if they were (in a drunken stupor it could happen) wouldn't be better to ask for the OGR to be remastered but with bigger maps and better AI? I mean, they wouldn't have to wait 5 to 7 years to accomplish that since they already have most of what they will need and we could go back to playing a semi realistic mil-sim (NOT ARMA dammit!) w/o loot, gear score or fantasy pixie dust RPG/MMO elements.
Gunsmith that is almost real (within gaming parameters)
Gear that make sense... go nekid and your sack will tingle if bit by a jungle mosquito
Put on some armor and now you are heavy but protected better for battle (again, within gaming parameters)
ROE for your teammates
1 primary and 1 side arm because your teammates will be able to be fully customize-able as well (weapon and gear)
Cut scene or on the fly intel as to what your next objective will be like and GPS coordinate to a near drop-off so you could re-loadout before ingress.
I mean, you guys are much better than I am at asking for the things needed here but you get the picture.
I stopped playing WL about 3 months ago and I want to go back but mostly because a few of you here have gone or are going back to it so the forum is a bit more lively but I really am not looking forward to repeating the same ole missions again and again.
Man I saw that track record and all it screamed to me was corporate shill. I see so many folks in my company who did that same route of Exec Admin to whatever director of something. They have never worked anywhere else, they think the culture at their company is somehow unique and therefore the path they chart doesn't have to be grounded in anything really. I have a bit of a different reaction and it isn't a good one.Originally Posted by Virtual-Chris Go to original post
Yeah, I’m trying to be optimistic. She certainly knows nothing about our game, genre, or special ops... That’s almost certain. But her mandate is probably to make some f#cking money with this team... soon. And if she’s smart, she will look at their most recent success and ensure they replicate that ASAP. But she needs to at least have the ability to see where Breakpoint went off the rails and did not deliver a Wildlands 2.0 experience. If she fails to understand that, she will fail in her new role as the next title will also likely be a failure.Originally Posted by Steven527 Go to original post
The only other real alternative is she moth-balls this franchise and doubles down on the other Paris franchise... Just Dance (LOL J/K) or takes on some new IP which is very high risk compared to doing a Wildlands 2.0 or remaster. But this all assumes she has any business savvy whatsoever.
I’m really counting on Ubisoft greed to steer this ship in the right direction. But there’s certainly no guarantee that they have enough sense to try and recapture that 15 Million player base and what must have been a billion dollar bonanza they had with Wildlands. If anyone can screw it up, it’s Ubisoft.
I guess this is as good a place as any to point out that a CDPR dev as a fan project released a remaster mod for TW3, and has one scheduled to drop for next gen in a few months.
Seriously if one guy can do it for free in his spare time around building CP2077, I'm sure Ubisoft can put one together for more micro-transactions...🤷*♂️
I guess the real question is what is the on going player involvement and what would the profit margain be, as Ubisoft seems to be increasingly all about the $$$$ especially in light of the Trackamania fiasco.
99.9% of people have no idea of spec ops, that is what Janes is for, and a little bit of research. Also bear in mind that most people who do know spec ops are under NDA and can't have anything officially published without prior approval from their former service branch. Hence you had a SF guy write GRBP, the President of the United States stood up and said DevGru killed UBL, yet 12yrs later if a retired SEAL tries to write that, it will be redacted by the US department of defense.Originally Posted by Virtual-Chris Go to original post
You really have no idea how absurd it can get.
Did in fact a "SF guy write GRBP"? Apparently it wasn't Emil Daubon, given this interview:Originally Posted by Bone_Frog Go to original post
