Make a system that doesn't just give it to first click. have a system that checks how many times you played that hero in last 10 matches, assign higher pick chances to people who have less recent playtimes with the hero, do a random draw among the people who selected the same hero. This way people with barely any playtime get more priority to make it fair for everyone. Single pick is a necessary evil. I have played a ton of R6 siege and I managed to get lots of play time with new heroes on release.Originally Posted by Frozty85 Go to original post
Alternatively you could matchmake with 4 heroes in preferential order. People will get over it, but it needs to happen for real game balance.
Single pick is necessary for balancing purposes. Matches will be a much better and consistent experience once it is implemented. People will get over it after an initial backlash. The problem is people are conditioned to "roleplay" and stick with one hero, they just need to be conditioned to be able to play 3-4 heroes they can roll with for any given match. It's merely a matter of conditioning expectations. Single pick is a normal thing in PvP games for a good reason.
For those times when a new hero drops, pop a playlist up for two weeks that allows hero stacking. Allow hero stacking in 4vAI modes... etc etc.
Canadiansoupman brought up the idea of having a system other than "quickest ping/person to spam select a character gets to play it" which is a good discussion to have.
Just because people like to "roleplay" and stick with one hero, shouldn't take single pick off the table, because single pick is an obvious balancing solution that will benefit matchmaking more than possibly anything else we've ever seen in this game.
There are solutions for the argument that "I need to learn this hero" like training mode, duels, and PvAI. They should update training arena as well for anti-gank/gank 4's concepts and practice. (bots letting you practice external blocking/parrying/target swapping etc)
The first few weeks will be full of whiners... but people will get over it. Matchmaking penalties will get dished out galore the first few weeks as well, but people will get conditioned and sick of waiting those out. (morons who will quit a match if they don't get to play the hero they want.)
Ubi just needs to grow a pair of balls, face the initial crybaby backlash, set the rules, and condition the playerbase to be able to play more than one hero as a normal expectation. Single pick is the right thing to do for the health of the game.
I think single pick is a must so I'd rather have it then not (since the game will be fun overall.)
four stacks are not balanced they are not healthy and especially shouldn't be here after
4 years ranked or casual it doesn't matter. Think of the future that single pick brings
to the balance in the game.
I'll admit, going up against up to at least three reworked Cents is rather challenging in an anti-gank, but that isn't an excuse to accomodate for a single-pick system. If anything, it would lengthen wait times to find players that DON'T have your character picked, and nobody really wants to wait even more.
Not just cent my guy 4 stacks in general is not healthy overall
Single is a must just because op said reworked cent 4 stack
= single pick that it wouldn't make single pick a valid thing.
Your only looking at what the op said but not looking past it
that's your problem. Just imagine how much balancing could be
done without the 4 stacks and like I said earlier crimson had a fix to your
worries with single pick.
