I am most excited for the detail of the game in terms of settlements mostly. I just hope that they took what they did with odyssey and create even more of it. Endless quests, daily or epic, trading, raiding, and most importantly building a settlement you can work on.

Something that was sorely lacking in Odyssey that I really wanted. I'm sure the fighting will be great but to see all the extras they put in is what I am anticipating. Then the fact that we can also level skills, that all armor will be different and that we not only get shields back but can duel wield them.

I expect to spend a lot of time on this game and after their last two which were awesome I am expecting great things.

It would be nice if they could tone down the sexual stuff though, I don't feel that's really beneficial to the game at all.

    Really!

AORUS2017 you are wrong the 9th century is the 800's, Ubisoft has it's facts right and they are not "worst then Hollywood". I am not just defending Ubisoft I am trying to correct a historical incorrection.

MAKING SURE THE FANS ARE HEARD

As part of a set of new Community Initiatives, we'd like to give opportunities to the community to give more direct feedback, and will now host weekly discussion on specific topics that relate the Assassin's Creed Franchise. These community discussions will take place on the AC subreddit, the Official Ubisoft Forums, and on the Mentors Guild Twitter. These discussions will be open for 1 week. The threads and responses will be shared directly with the Assassin's Creed Community Development team, who will then pass that info on to concerned parties within Ubisoft itself.

While the Mentors get opportunities to speak directly with the creators of Assassin’s Creed and frequently communicate with the Community Development Team, this is not the case for every fan. We want to change that. We want fans to have their voices heard directly, in the same ways the Mentors do. These activities are a step towards meeting this goal. If you want Ubisoft to see what you have to say, this is the place to do it.

    THIS WEEK'S TOPIC

    Topic:
The Setting of Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Info: Assassin's Creed Valhalla takes place in 9th century England and Norway, most specifically the kingdoms of North Umbria, East Anglia, Wessex, and Mercia. Alfred the Great rules the kingdom of Wessex and is the only king to successfully fend off the continuous Viking attacks. Eivor, the protagonist, is a Viking clan leader, and is looking for a place to call home for their people. Rolling hills, snowy cliffs, shallow rivers, and dense forests cover this chaotic land.

    QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:

-Are you excited for this setting? If so, what has you most excited?
Yes, I believe we two worlds to explore and th is one of them. I love the narrative about how warriors shaped the future ofthe brotherhood, which is why I feel the word creed is very important. I am also excited to see how choice dialogue will be expanded by building factions, marriages and enemies.

-In your opinion, does this setting fit well within the universe of AC?
Yes we see through Unity and Syndicate what happens to the brotherhood(not necessarily are characters)as we move away from the cloaked and daggered approach. Then we were able touch the ethers in Odyssey while experiencing the lineage of Aya. Then we have the founding of The Hidden Ones alla tragedy. So we have a huge between Origins and Altair we must immerse ourselves in.

-Are you interested in seeing the religious cultures that dominated the cultures of the land represented in the game? (Norse Paganism and Christianity)
Yes spirituality and religion have been a huge part of the ambiance since the beginning. Plus a great way to learn. One of my all time moments was jumping on a trireme in Origins and seeing people as we floated down the Nile. It was magic and those moments of cultural devotion make AC very special.

-Have the trailers shown a world that looks aesthetically pleasing to you? Why or why not?
Yes, seems like different color palettes are existing. Blue to green to white to black in the distancs. Has the heighten look to it, and feels different than Origins and Odyssey.

-What are your thoughts on the phrase "A Viking experience in the world of Assassin's Creed"?
I'm calling a shot out to III the here. Hunting, fishing, drinking, rapping + those AC intricate details + PS5 = Master class.

-What concerns do you have for the setting?
    Nay.

-What do you want to see more of from the setting?
Underwater swimming and complicated names ie a bunch Aethals. It would be cool to see if the sprawling rolling are populated or a part of our visual journey as we explore.

-Was this a setting you were hoping to see from the franchise?
    Yes!

As always, please feel free to add any thoughts you might have that are not covered by these example questions!
If you read this, thank you. I love these games more than you know and I am a 'grown' *** man.

    REMEMBER:

While these discussions are meant to allow for honest and raw feedback directly from the community, the best way to ensure your voice is heard is to be constructive - be critical of the process, not the people. Be specific with your criticisms and suggest tangible solutions and improvements.
We hope to see active participation and that this will be a successful way of getting the fans' voices truly heard.

Are you excited for this setting? If so, what has you most excited?

I am now. Wasn't too much before. I'm not up on my Norse history/ mythology, so I'll probably learn something along the way.

-In your opinion, does this setting fit well within the universe of AC?

Most historical settings can be molded to fit into the overall ACU, so with some concessions, yeah, it should fit. At least it oughtta be interesting to see how the classical archetype of a Viking raider/warrior fits into the story of how The Hidden Ones evolve into The Brotherhood. Unless of course we might see the evolution of the Templar Order. Dunno.

-Are you interested in seeing the religious cultures that dominated the cultures of the land represented in the game? (Norse Paganism and Christianity)

This, yes, Playing it safe be damned; get back into raising a few eyebrows and challenging people's beliefs the way the originals did. It's the blend of history and fiction that sets this franchise apart from most others.

-Have the trailers shown a world that looks aesthetically pleasing to you? Why or why not?

Again, yes. Gimme lots of openness, lots of the natural world. Although we haven't seen actual gameplay as of this writing, I'm sure the world the devs built will be gorgeous.

-What are your thoughts on the phrase "A Viking experience in the world of Assassin's Creed"?

I'm not really sure what a "Viking experience" is, but credit where credit's due: Ash and his team let "me" live like a pirate and an Egyptian medjay, so no doubt they'll deliver the goods.

-What concerns do you have for the setting?

Honestly, none I know of. As I said, this and feudal Japan were two of the THE most requested settings, which happen to be two of my LEAST exciting settings, as I know very little of either. But I aim to learn as the game progresses.

-What do you want to see more of from the setting?

Just an accurate, more...to use their words,"grounded"... approach vs. Odyssey's.

-Was this a setting you were hoping to see from the franchise?

Nah, not really. It'll be interesting to see how it all fits together. though. Now, gimme a full-fledged release set in British occupied India like in the Chronicles game and this already happy camper will be even happier.

I don't want to be picky, but, like I've said in another post,it's already passed a week since the creation of this discussion.
As I am interested in the iniziative,I'd like to know if I misunderstood and we won't get a discussion per week.
I hope that someone will answer me.

    Hi cap,

Typically, the Mentor's Guild puts out a discussion per week, though there isn't usually a hard set day that it occurs.

Sometimes there are weeks without one. Particularly this year, with all its unpredictable happenings.

Hang tight- I'll make sure to sticky the next one when it's posted, so it's easy to find.

    Thanks!

i think that hearing so many things about this game which seem good this game might still disappoint it may not have as much of an impact as previous games. The main reason is dialogue choices. See in previous games the story was linear you couldn’t avoid tragedy that happened like example Ezio loosing his family or Blackbeard dying Or bayek loosing his son. You also couldn’t make choices that were awesome like Edward choosing to become an assassin or breaking the chain in Istanbul as Ezio etc I hope you get the point now with dialogue choices we can simply avoid a bad end. Previous games you saw the characters story and sympathized with them for their grief and how they redeemed themselves. You learned of the story of a character while in dialogue choices you’re making the story. That’s why o think dialogue choices should not be a thing it may not cause us to feel the character unlike the previous ones

I disagree. Just because there are dialogue options doesn’t mean you can avoid imports moments. No matter what we say and do, characters like Phoibe die. Meanwhile, having those options can also invest people into the character and story far more since they can better relate and immerse themselves into it whereas with set protagonists your attachment is a roll of the dice. For example you mentioned Ezio and Edward. I hated both characters, so those stories didn’t draw me in nearly as much as they did others.
