Game using 55% of CPU while being paused

    Hello,

I am really disappointed with performance of this game. I have bad stuttering with i5 4460 and GTX 1060 at medium setting.
The worst thing is that it seems that anti-piracy and anti-cheating nonsense takes more than half of CPU power while the game is doing nothing at all. No wonder there is not enough power for game itself
It seems it is an issue with only Ubisoft games...

Hey! I'm sorry to read you're experiencing some performance issue.

First of all, here are our system requirements: https://support.ubisoft.com/en-GB/faqs/000033169/

Your system looks as though it should be able to play High settings comfortably. Your CPU is very similar performance to the recommended i7-3770 and your GPU is similar to the recommended GTX 970.

Please help me with the following -

    - What resolution are you playing with?
    - What is your average FPS and how badly does it drop during stuttering?
    - Do you have at least 8GB RAM?
    - Do you experience stuttering in the in-game benchmark tool?

    All the best!

    Hello,

    thank you for your response.

    - What resolution are you playing with?
    - What is your average FPS and how badly does it drop during stuttering?
    - Do you have at least 8GB RAM?
    - Do you experience stuttering in the in-game benchmark tool?
    - I play on Windows 7
    - 1920 x 1080
    - My FPS is mostly 60 when I am on foot and out of combat. (I play all games with VSYNC on). During stuttering it drops usualy to 50 - 55, exceptionally to 45. Stuttering occurs very often when I am driving some vehicle.
    - I have 16 GB RAM
    - Yes, I experience stuttering in the benchmark tool. But now a strange thing happened, after I ran the benchmark 2nd time, results were much better.

It might be that the performance problem is partly caused by loading data from disk. But I do not have a SSD drive large enough to install the game on it.

    Regards

Thanks for clarifying, and I appreciate the benchmark screenshot!

It would be best to disable your background applications via a clean boot and then run the benchmark again - other applications may be affecting performance as well.

I checked before starting the game. Nothing was running in background, CPU usage was <= 3%.

Please Verify Files and update your game. Anticheat was removed in the latest Title Update.

I checked and it seems that Easy Anti-Cheat is not present in my game. However other protections are still in place.

also get off win 7 asap ..its a dead OS and no longer gets updates

upgrade to win 10 for better driver support

and it looks like you only have a 3 gig GPU? upgrade that GPU you do know that the 3 gig version of the GTX 1060 has less pixel and vertex shader units then a 6 gig card and runs at a lower clock speed

i mean i have zero problems with the game with an i 5 7600 K and a 6 gig GTX 1060 with 16 gig of ram and win 10 PRO

you can use the benchmark in game tool to lock in a solid 60 FPS too

just adjust your settings and do a clean install of your drivers .. and if you installed the HD texture package .. remove it on a 3 gig GPU ..the game uses over 5 gig of my gigabyte GTX 1060's v ram in 1080 P settings with the HD texture package installed ,, yes you need at least 4 gig of v ram to run the game fluid and stutter free with out it

and yes up to almost 6 gig with the HD texture pack installed ..your running out of V ram and windows is using system ram or page file to compensate .. thus = stutter

and do a clean boot as described above

sorry but your issue is not new nor is it unique ..your expecting too much from your 3 gig GTX 1060 card and an older OS with an older CPU and ram

good luck with your upgrade !

other then that yes use the in game bench tool to adjust the settings till you see a solid 50 to 60 FPS ..as thats all your gonna get on a 3 gig GTX 1060 if your lucky
see the benchmarks posted online from many independent hardware sites

    https://www.techspot.com/article/160...-5-benchmarks/

    and

you will see higher v ram cards do better

Thanks for your post. But I am a senior IT pro and won't leave Windows 7. The game might or might not have better performance under Windows 10. Windows 7 is still supported by many companies including Microsoft, Valve, NVIDIA or Avast!

Of course HD texture pack is not installed.

Otherwise of course I have only 3 GB of VRAM. And I am not expecting too much! The bottleneck in this game is my CPU, not GPU and it is ONLY with Ubisoft games. Even vintage Far Cry 3 could not keep solid performance in all areas.

I cannot afford to buy a new motherboard and the most expensive CPU only for a single game
