I have to agree with the blackfacing. It is ironic that you can make people with clear Caucasian, Nordic or Oriental physical features so black that they absorb all the light around them as if that is not technically racist as well. Either it is all okay or none of it is.

On a constructive note, i think they could just make 1-3 practical skin tones for each faction based on their geographical location as in the original culture they are inspired by. Some variations in white for Nords, some slightly more coloured options for the romans/greeks, Oriental tones for the Asian cultures, etc. If they ever add an African or Middle-eastern faction they would have some unique tones as well.
I have no issue with classes having black tone skin, from the centurion to vikings, the game is not historically accurate anyway and there were black people in roman gladiators, in roman army as in vikings maybe, for they were allowing slaves, especially slaves children, to be possibly freed and become part of their population. It was part of the roman strategy of assimilation to subdue conquered populations to become roman on the long run.
