I've also seen people receiving their ammount of racist comments based on what nationality they are from, ranging from "go surrender your french ***" to people outright telling a greek guy to go kill himself. And that's not even touching on how much goes around when people play female characters or are girls themselves. While such a thing as "go make a sandwitch girl" can be seen as just a joke, it's really not. First of all it's hugely sexist, and that girl has probably heard that joke about 100 times that week. And I'm not even going to start on how many "jokes" I've seen on black and asian people. While a joke once in a while could be seen as harmless (when it really isn't), it always devolves into everyone jumping on the train and writing out their own racist or discriminatory joke, and you end up spending 10-20 minutes having to endure a match filled with people just throwing around racist jokes. And when you protest you get called a snowflake and things take a turn for the worst.

Ubisoft, this is your game, your rules, and you need to do something about it. It's very, very important, both for the health of the game, and for the face of your company. And by do something, I mean ban the people who act like that, not just write it in the DMCA et EULA but never apply it. Most of the guys I've seen make these jokes aren't new players, we're talking people above rep 100. It really isn't ok for this to be going on, and I know that I, for one, will not be picking up the game until something has been done about this. I'm not going to be standing there playing a game where I get insulted every other match because people find out I'm french, or watching them insult someone else for their nationality, race, gender or religion.
    Hey TJ,

It sucks to hear you've been experiencing this in your games. Racism and discrimination isn't something we tolerate here. Make sure you're reporting these players in-game, and if you happen to have any visual evidence of this happening (videos, screenshots, etc) you're more than welcome to provide those to our Support team for investigation. I sincerely hope this doesn't hinder you from playing in the future. Those types of players do not represent this community in any way, shape, or form.

Can’t really do anything about it, it’s just today’s internet culture that is so incredible toxic.

Just mute these people and be fine with it, I guess.

No, let's not be fine with it. It isn't acceptable. As UbiYubble mentioned, you can report them to our team and we'll investigate and take any necessary action. Don't feel like you have to accept any sort of abusive behaviour.

Im just saying that its today internet that is so incredible toxic,

Of course it should be reported but the strongest tool against them is the mute button.

To add further context the EU scenario, members of the far-right group, the English Defence League(EDL), have been found on EU servers. I came across a couple of them on a few occasions. Their emblems resembled the English flag and they went by the premade name, 'EDL.' I did report them for inappropriate usernames but that wouldn't stop them from changing their names and returning to the game.

I don’t think you can classify ‘EDL’ or ‘English Defence League’ as racist language so those names most likely aren’t a bannable offence. The English flag is definitely not racist. If it was the EDL flag then MAYBE that is the one thing they could get in trouble for

It's the association with the group that is the issue. Far-right groups shouldn't be representing themselves in games. Chances are they may do more than just represent their group and harass other players.

In skin customization it could be offensive to some that you have the ability to blackface other races. I understand there isn't really a black hero in the game and some might see adding a hero like a Zulu warrior as racist as well so it's sort of a catch 22.

I have to agree with the blackfacing. It is ironic that you can make people with clear Caucasian, Nordic or Oriental physical features so black that they absorb all the light around them as if that is not technically racist as well. Either it is all okay or none of it is.

On a constructive note, i think they could just make 1-3 practical skin tones for each faction based on their geographical location as in the original culture they are inspired by. Some variations in white for Nords, some slightly more coloured options for the romans/greeks, Oriental tones for the Asian cultures, etc. If they ever add an African or Middle-eastern faction they would have some unique tones as well.

It's pretty well established that the in-game reports doesn't do anything.
I haven't picked up the game in a while, but even last time I did I remember running into the same toxic people over and over again, people I'd reported for toxic chat (including racism, antisemitism, sexism, just foul language, you name it) several times, sometimes several days in a row, they'd still be there, At this point I'm not even sure the support team follows up on the reports they're sent because I've reported some fairly heinous people, with video or picture proof of the things these people write in the chat. The chats that Ubisoft claims they are keeping logs of and checking for breaches of CoC. These people are still around.

I get that right now the support team may be working with a skeleton crew because of the virus, but there are so many repeat offenders in this game that doesn't even bother changing their in-game name, banning them should not be this hard.
