[SPOILERS] Skyscrapers New Game Mode - Are you Excited

Upcoming PVE Focused Re-playable Game Modes For DIVISION 2

Are You Excited and what are your thoughts on the news so far?

Per yesterdays SOTG (2020/05/27 Episode #161) it was confirmed by Yannick that work is under way on new PVE focused game modes. Yannick's exact words were

"Yes we are working on new PVE game modes"

That statement was plural and not singular meaning game modes. This could have been a slip of the tongue or it could be exactly what Yannick said; game modes. So far we know of just the one game mode called Skyscraper but the team could be working on 1 or more additional game modes. While Skyscraper sounds like it could satisfy player requests for a successor to Resistance the team will need to provide more then just the one Skyscraper game mode if they hope to meet the demand for re-playable game modes in The Division 2.

According to Yannick Skyscraper is a re-playable PVE game mode that is still several months out so don't ask them for any additional information about it for now. The fact that we know they are working on re-playable game modes (thanks to the PTS) brings hope to many who had given up on the requests for re-playable game modes. Even as of now Yannik was clear that the goal with these game modes is to create new modes that gain inspiration from the popular game modes in the first Division game. This is why Skyscraper (according to the leaks and not Yannik) sounds like a mix-up of Resistance and Underground; a horde like game mode set in dynamically generated levels.

Are you excited to know that Massive is working on 1 or more re-playable PVE focused game modes?

Are you looking forward to Skyscraper amusing its released like or close to how its been described so far in the leaks?

Whats more important, that these new game modes only be inspired by their predecessors and thus have little in common or do they need to have more in common then perhaps Massive would like?

What about mixed mode like what Survival and Last Stand offered? Should at least one of the new game modes allow for some form of PVP? Conflict is PVP only and available at launch however the PVP community is just as deserving of new game modes as the PVE side so should at least one of the upcoming game modes support some level of PVP engagements? If Massive does the right thing and produces a proper successor (not copy or clone) of Survival, a BR like game mode that like the first Survival takes the best parts of the core game and wraps it up within a 1- 2 hour time limit then at least 1 game mode will be such that it can work for both PVE and PVP players.

Any other thoughts on re-playable game modes?

As long as this skyscraper mode is NOT timed I might give it a go if it comes to fruition.

Personally I never liked resistance and Survival was the worst thing iv'e played (P v E wise) hate anything with a timer (don't do P v P)

As for Underground now that was a good mode and fun as hell, i'll happily take skyscraper as an underground type mode with procedural rooms/cells (but above ground)

If it's level based and you get a cache at a specific level like 5, 10, 15, etc then people will just farm the first few levels.
Being based in a skyscraper will limit the number of possible layouts. Enter level, clear level sounds repetitive to me. I'll get excited once I know what this game mode actually is

It oddly reminds me a bit of FF14 that has a specific dungeon that has similar mechanic and a bit also of chrysler building from parasite eve 1

Ya I am hoping they go into more details about it but from current leak info it appears to be a combination of Underground and Resistance but as a 100 floor challenge mode with no save points at floor 80 to 100.

It is going to be a interesting test for players who want to do this solo.

New Game modes won't help the game when the issue isn't lack of modes.

They need to solve the biggest problem with the game and that is Build Diversity and Holy Trinity.
Division 2 is a game as you play you have LESS CHOICES as you progress in the game.

When you start off You can use any weapon and any ability and feels great until WT0
As you progress through WT5 you will start need to focusing on one side

As you progress through difficulties soon the number of weapons become more limited.
You can't use abilities if you choose weapons or visa versa.
Things become less and less free.

They are solving the wrong problems in the wrong order.
