Haven't done any Div1 in a long, long time...found some exotics, did some multiplayer during world events as a rando.......did the daily farming routes for fun in SP, did the main game in SP. Planning on doing the same with Div2, only recently started it.
Beautiful game, more fun to solo think, I'm level 15 or something at this point.
I've held off on the side missions and am cruising through the SP game, still being impressed by the graphics and gameplay, but a couple questions linger and hoping someone can quick-answer them for me.
Are weapons crates you find in the open world one-and-done? I'm at the point where as I level up I keep thinking "don't open anything", I know that crates you receive for leveling-up are tied to your level, but in the open world when you find weapon cases....do they scale with the level of the area (like I think the first game did) or do they scale with your level when you open them (aka: save them).
Other question is this: I have some equipment mods, damned if I can figure out how to use them. Modding weapons, got it. Modding perks like the turret or hive, got it.
But, uh, maybe I've forgotten this from Div1 but...is this a level 30/endgame thing.....
oh last dumb question...I need to use the pulse to find crates in the open world right...or is that purely a Div1 thing....
Many thanks....
Open world crates refresh once a day. It's been awhile since I leveled up a character, but I believe they scale with your current level.Originally Posted by HeadRusch Go to original post
Only a couple of gear pieces have mod slots now - mask, chest and backpack. Depending on the brand, that mod slot might be red (offense), blue (defense) or yellow (skills). You can recalibrate (change) the mod slot to a different color, but it's not a good idea unless everything else is god rolled.Other question is this: I have some equipment mods, damned if I can figure out how to use them. At lower levels, the sewers are great for loot and to collect faction keys. Open everything and then go back tomorrow and open them again! Once you gather enough SHD tech you can unlock a skill that highlights loot and enemies for ten minutes after contributing food, water, ect... to friendly control points. The highlighting shows through walls which is really helpful in the sewers for finding hidden rooms.Originally Posted by HeadRusch Go to original post
Also, you have to unlock the skills before you can use mods. So keep doing the missions and side missions so you can unlock the turret, drone, hive... and all things amazing!
Happy hunting!
Regular open world chests reset once per day. They also scale with your level....up to a point. Once you hit level cap you'll start to notice that chests don't really have anything good in them.Originally Posted by HeadRusch Go to original post
Weapon mods are used directly from the weapon. No limit. They don't run out. They don't cost anything. Swap them as often as you want. Put them on every single weapon you use.
Armor and skill(hive/turret/etc) mods are a piece of equipment that you loot and only have that 1 version of. Say, for example, if you looted a 3% crit red armor mod. You could only put that in one piece of gear at a time. You could take it out and put it in another piece, but then the original piece of gear wouldn't have it anymore. If you wanted two pieces of gear to both have crit mods, you'd have to find or craft a second crit mod.
Only the Mask, Chest, and Backpack can have armor mod slots(you can craft generic, non-brand piece of armor that has a mod slot, but that's kind of hit or miss most times). Often times low level gear won't have mod slots.
Pulse only detects enemies. If you want to detect chests and crafting material crates, you have to unlock the perk at the quartermaster with SHD points, then donate resources to a control point. That will give you a temporary buff that highlights chests and such in the open world.
Really appreciate the tips, I remember Div1 where I neglected to open some crates in the open world (Weapons Cases) and then went back to open them, only to find I should have opened them when I found them (level locked, I think, to the area they were found in after I had gone World Tier 5, etc)...I'll just open things when I find them now. I assume this means all cases reset daily, like backpacks and weapon/rifle cases too yes? In D1 I think those were one-and-done except for tool chests and such...but its been awhile.
Thx also for the mods info...I couldn't figure out what to do with the ones that weren't related to, say, the turret or hive or what have you.
I tend not to open a lot of the common loot boxes for crafting mats now as I tend to have too many that I never use.
I always open weapon crates, visit the recalibration library and check them before just selling them. And yes, they all reset.
I've only just, after 178 hours, started to keep named weapons and green armour in my stash...
Yeah I've only done about 4 side missions so far, I remember that gem of knowledge from back in the D1 days as well, saving those side missions. I was just thrown when I saw cases had reset when I spawned into an control point and saw loot waiting....did a "wait whut!?" double take and realized D2 changed that up.Originally Posted by Farcryer01 Go to original post
Oh, this Warlords of New York expansion......is this a NY map (like leftovers from D1 unused) or is it a return to the full D1 map only with the D2 game mechanics and engine upgrade?
Back to grinding towards WT5...
It's a different part of New York (lower Manhattan) from the first game (Midtown).. The areas do not overlap or connect.Originally Posted by HeadRusch Go to original post
Just to nitpick a bit, but you can in Div 2 just give some crap to a CP officer to more or less get the same effect that pulse gave in Div 1.Originally Posted by dagrommit Go to original post
