Some ideas to make Raider less limited and more diversified in his moveset.
Raider
Changes
- Health points has been reduced to 130 [from 140]
- Enhanced Light Attacks
- Raider Storm consumes now 30 stamina [from 50 stamina]
- Top Heavy opener ___/ cancel ---> Trap
[20 damages][Stun]
Note: Top heavy opener cancel into guard break has been replaced by a top heavy opener cancel into trap. It will help the Raider to have more pressure and start a chain.
NEW
- Side Heavy Opener/Second/Finisher cancel into Top Heavy Opener/Second/Finisher
Note: It will help to play in mind of enemy and possibly make him think it's a Storming tap.
- Side/Top Heavy Opener cancel into Dodge
Note: to avoid someone who attack you if you try to start a heavy attack opener
NEW Moveset: Anvil Head
-Raider can hit you with the top of his axe head after a heavy or light opener, it stun and guaranteed a light attack. Anvil Head allow you to continue the chains after the light attack.
[20 stamina damages] [500ms] [Unblockable] [consumes 15 stamina]
NEW Moveset: The Great Raid
-Charge the enemy you lock with a heavy attack. If the enemy are far from you, hold the heavy attack key and you will start to run at 13,65 km/h [from 8,65] and push everything on your way [soldiers, players, officers, guardian and commander]
[30 damages] [700 ms] [consumes 34 stamina]
Forward Dodge + Heavy attack
I would like to know what do you think about this.

yes , that's a good idea
Top Heavy opener ___/ Softfeint ---> Traps
[20 damages][Stun]
tbh i dont like this idea , traps don't make sense for a raider , it just not his identity
Raider Storm can now be softfeint in Stampede Charge
Note: You will have to backward guard break during the Raider Storm like Highlander when he kick to grab
raider already has storm soft feint gb that will do the same as stempede charge if this was going to be implemented , i dont see why would you risk going for this move and potentially get dodged and grant them a free GB , current soft feint gb is safer and more viable.

can be a good idea for a heavy followup but after a light is a bit too much for the stun

that's a good idea , interested to see how its gonna work , if it has hyper armor or something
For the traps it can make sense, I've seen something interesting in this video at 5:35 but the problem is, I think it work just against 2 handed weaponsOriginally Posted by Bo_sack_noodle Go to original post

Eh, I wouldn't change Raider.
If anything, Raiders completely kick *** now. Their lights feel weird, and the HA makes it too easy. It's a shame, because Raider was my first main, but now I feel like a cheeseball playing the character. Nothing to really be proud of playing as a Raider, but maybe I'm playing for the wrong reasons, then.
Raider was weak before his buff, strong after his buff because he've keep the dodge guard break on every directions + high damages but now after his nerf and some animations fix… he's easy to read and repetitive [probably subjective]. If I was one of the devs who work on heroes, I would completely change the Raider design. And sorry to hear that you lost the joy of playing this hero.Originally Posted by MCBooma16 Go to original post
Axe hooking is a very cool idea that's shown in a few raider/zerker executions. Though I don't think we could realistically add a move in like that when Nuxia's traps already exist. The only gameplay implimentation I could see for it would be sort of a command grab done off of a parry counter input.
Giving him a soft feint into stampede seems kinda pointless. I feel warlord more benefits from having a way to do crashing charge mix ups from guard rather than raider doing stampede mix ups. The anvil idea is cool thematically but I think it's a bit much. You're guaranteeing two attacks with a stun that also has chaining capability. That's a bit overloaded for a move.
If we're trying to give Raider back some chain pressure/offense that doesn't involve a stun again we can just make 2 changes. First tap is now a chain starter. Meaning after a tap you can do a light or a heavy. And said light or heavy links into finishers. Additionally Raider can now chain into his chain zone from finishers. He will still retain the ability to replace finishers with his chained zone. And he can still do a zone after a tap to have as his chained zone.
Now raider can continually play with his chains in addition to having pseudo infinite chains. The damage would need to be brought down and stamina costs for the moves would need to be brought down a bit as well. Tap itself is the lynch pin here. If people didn't want to have to deal with the continual assault they could block/parry the tap. Which gives his soft feint into GB more of a use.
Isnt axe hooking how zerk throws (and does that bit of damage?)
Also raider doesn't have a halberd for formation fighting. Hooking is for pulling someone off guard (or off horse) so your (formation) can hit them. If you are on your own your basically just removing all threat potential and resting the axe head close enough they can just grab it. The only viable mention of solo fighting axe hooking was to attack a center grib boss shield, as you can use the reach to hook it (spinning is sideways around the handle like opening a door so it now rests against heir forearm) and then shove the pointing bit in their (at the time period) unarmored face. Skalls suggestion is insane if you imagine arms on that manikin and it has any weapon, hes basically removing his weapon and reach advantage to try hook the back of their neck. even if that worked your gonna get stabbed.
Skall is not a good source of good ideas, hes a middling hema enthusiast with an enjoyable presentation style. He tends to just play around with things and miss the context (a big hint if you watch those channels as to who I would recommend as a source of viable information)
edit: in that video for example hes using a dane axe (basically a darkages weapon) and applying unarmored pole arm techniques from centuries later... its like using a bayonet fighting manual for a spear.
On point - raider doesn't need any help right now. He is already very powerful.
