    Overlay crash

    We had a crash when playing a multi player game.
    When having a look at the logs here is the message:
    [ 8788] 2020-05-03 16:58:15 [ 6020] ERROR ExceptionShield.cpp (73) Overlay has detected an unrecoverable error and must shutdown.
    Could you correct this bug ?
    Do you need some other logs, files for this bug ?
    I have the save game file if necessary.

    I was another player in the same game, but for me, the game didn't crash.
    My last entries in the overlay_log.txt file :
    Code:
    [ 3724]  2020-05-03 14:00:53      [11580]      DEBUG      D3d9Render.cpp (670)                             Creating overlay texture

    The crash was at 16h58.

    Hey! Thank you both for getting in touch, I'm sorry to read the game crashed.

    Does this happen often, or is this the first time it has happened?

    The overlay is likely referring to Uplay overlay, in which case I would like to suggest re-installing Uplay: https://support.ubi.com/en-GB/faqs/000025799/

    If you have any other overlay software running (e.g. Discord) I would also check to make sure there are no issues with that, or disabling the overlay.

    @Babylon-Zeus are you able to describe what happened from your perspective? Were you able to continue playing as normal or not?

    Hello,

    I was in that game as well. It crashed at the same time with the same message on my side.

    It happened when I sent about 50 spies/thieves to Lohiki's settlement.

    Is there a way to activate a drbug mode to generate minidumps in those cases?

    Can you please also confirm if you tried re-installing Uplay PC?

    Thanks for having created the support case.
    I've added all the necessary files and put a comment.
    We had another crash on 1st of June. I've added the save file too.

    I didn't try to reinstall uplay because uplay was installed 2 months ago for the first time when we bought th settlers3 game.
    If you want we can try but I don't think it will solve the problem.

    Hello again! I'm sorry for the delay, I got back to you as soon as I could.

    Thank you for providing everything, we will be able to investigate that for you.

    Regarding my re-installation suggestion - I appreciate this may seem like a common or standard suggestion, so allow me to help explain this from our perspective.

    When player's describe an issue to us, we need to offer steps in a way that will help us narrow the issue down to the core and we can leave no stone unturned. Although Uplay was only recently installed and it is not likely to be the cause, it wouldn't be right for us to neglect this as a possibility.

    We can only know for sure by trying all troubleshooting steps in the most logical order and then check the outcome.
