    Dark zone Loot

I'm having a hard time understanding the Dark Zone. Among other things, is the extraction points the only way to get your loot out or does it come with you when you walk thru one of the dark zone entrances ? Also, if you have a good build for playing outside the dark zone, does that mean with the normalization it's still a good build for inside the dark zone ? Or what makes gear good for the dark zone ? Thanks in advance for any help.

Contaminated loot ends up in your contaminated loot bag, depending dz rank, will determine how much contaminated loot you can get out. The only way to get contaminated loot out is to extract it, if you walk out of the DZ with contaminated loot it is automatically destroyed.

As for builds, some pve builds work ok for both the pve and pvp aspects of gun play in the dz. However for the hard core pvp players you will see them running more focussed pvp builds designed for encounter against other players. Expect if you go in their to farm and extract gear that you will most likely become the hunted as other rogue players look to steal your loot and extract it for themselves/

Contaminated loot are items that you pick up off the ground. You must extract those in order to actually get them.

However, loot that is a direct reward from finishing landmarks goes straight to your inventory without having to extract.

The DZ is a PvPvE area. And as such there are two types of builds that work well there:

A purely PVE build will be perfectly fine for clearing NPCs and landmarks, but may not be very good if you encounter a rogue agent, or decide to go rogue yourself.

A purely PVP build will likely do very well against other players, but may not be very good for clearing landmarks.

This is the fundamental flaw of the DZ. It pits players who only want to PVE farm items, that aren't available anywhere else, against players who's builds and intent are outriight superior to their own. If you go into the DZ with the intent to farm, you are putting yourself at a distinct disadvantage to someone who's sole intent is to PVP. Your build will be set up for sustainability. Their build will be set up for burst. You will be fighting NPCs, and the rogues will wait for that to attack you, so that you're distracted and under pressure from both them and the NPCs.

Enter at your own risk, and be 100% fully aware that the DZ is not fair. It's not intended to be fair. It is built with the intent to piss off PVE players and cater to trolls who enjoy nothing more than to make the PVE player angry. I don't know why the devs think this is good, or healthy for the game, but make no mistakes about what you're getting into when you go there. Accept the fact, up front, that you WILL lose items at some point.

So what exactly makes gear good for PVP as opposed to PVE?
I've been playing this game since launch and to be honest I still don't know exactly
Building as much CHC and CHD is the way I've gone, but who knows the true mechanics of it
