I have a request for the community members.I think that I am one of the few people in the world that aren't on any social network and I think also that Darby mcDevitt will never answer to my questions on the forum.
So I would be grateful if someone, who has my own fears and is on twitter, write to him to ask if he's really sincere when he says that male Eivor and female Eivor are both canon.
    Thanks.

I really struggle to connect with female video game characters. I loved my fem Shep, Kassandra was pretty spectacular, and I’m pleased with two of my three female Destiny Guardians, but otherwise I generally prefer male characters. Oh, and I adore Aya. I empathize with her a great deal. It is disappointing that we got to play as her so little in Origins.
I loved Aya as a character but I hated having to play as her especially towards the end with the assassination scene. I had Bayek over leveled by 5 or 6 I had this great sword and the best bows in the game that I had mastered and then they throw me in there, nerfed my level, gave me melee weapons I was completely unfamiliar with (dual daggers if I remember right) and gave me a bow that felt like I was shooting spitwads ..... I think it took me 3 tries to get through that after dying only once before that (That weird dream sequence where you had to fight a huge FANTASY snakelike creature) ..... I just didn't see that coming and I'm sure the devs were wondering why their ears were burning that night because I was cursing them ... Why Ubisoft WHY?!?!???

    My point is:
As I aimed for a canon playthrough in Odyssey, the novel was the only sort of official canon guide for choices regarding actions and the main character ( I have nothing against Kassandra, but would've normally played as Alexios because of the male armor and helmets, which just looked silly on her, not to mention that when you think of Greek mercenaries/warriors/Heroes, the first thing that comes to mind isn't particularly a woman (all due respect for history's female warriors)

I believe that whatever choices are included in Valhalla's novelisation automatically become canon, as was with Odyssey (and that's fine by me, I'm not forcing canon on anibody, play it however you like) I also don't mind playing as a female this time, because it makes more sense in the Viking era, BUT - the novel can't possibly depict both the female and male version, and by the looks of it it'll eventually go with the female lead, which automatically makes it hunderd times more canon than Darby's words at the time, at least by my standarts.

Have they lied to us about the canon character again?

Have they lied to us about the canon character again? Because with odyssey we lost the trust in AC.
I'm not going to talk about the game itself, which I love in each evolution, things that I appreciated in one version withdrawn in another or new things, etc. It’s more about the scenario, and the choice of genre that doesn’t trace historical precision, see the opposite.
Everybody know it, you like it or not,“Eivor” name is a 100% female name and for me it’s sound female. Well I said it does not matter that we kill Desmond to replace him with a female character on the main plot. Otherwise I will never play Odyssey with Kassandra even if she is the canon character, well if I had known before I would not even have bought it in the first place. It is not sexism, not far from me, I know that the rights of the male are diminished on anything in the planet under the flag of feminism, no it is not what is called equality but we're used to that now. I just find that it is not logical in relation to my background in history, and that it distorts the reality of the perception of history. Kind, put a woman as shogun of Japan, or a white man chief of African tribes in the year 300 BC, a black tsar in the 14th century, an Arab in place of Abraham Lincoln, a white in place of M .Luther King ... had to put 300 Spartan women since it is not logical at the beginning since there was no mercenary woman or soldier at that time among the Greeks even less among the Spartans (except goddesses), neither before among the Persians and the Egyptians, nor afterwards among the Romans and the Carthaginians ...
Go directly to mythology and say that Kassandra it is an Amazon that would have been more logical, she’s not a spartan but a warrior woman of the Scythian or Sarmatian peoples to stay in a logical mythology and a historically consistent history.
Same here with Valhalla, SHIELDMAIDEN It’s just a mythology not accurate historically; yes, women defended villages, but never raided. And did not speak of the legend of Artemisia, she took command of five ships but she is not a warrior, she was a queen and an ally of Persia.
Although I am aware that by 2025 there will be only female characters on all games, and the male optional and not canon because we know that European and American culture tends to be less male, where men identify themselves more with female characters; it is not my case nor that of my culture, and despite this it won't be a problem, as long as it doesn't falsify the story; but again it’s not the case here.
These games are very expensive for me, and yet as a fan of the franchise who has an income three times lower than that of the lowest Canadian salary, and ubisoft store make my country forced to buy it in euro and not dollar (ie I 'buys it more expensive than an American) and I don't complain about that because I'm enjoying ubisoft games also I'm a big fan of a lot of franchise, however I think I have the right to complain and say my opinion loud and clear. In short if female Eivor is exclusively the canon character in this time again, I think I will drop the AC franchise.

Include me out of your we. I had no issues at all with ODYSSEY. Nor did most gamers. This is one of the most successful games in the entire franchise and series.

Well I said it does not matter that we kill Desmond to replace him with a female character on the main plot.
First of all, they killed Desmond several games back, and they replaced him with a "Floating Tablet" in BLACK FLAG and ROGUE, and some online dashboard in UNITY and SYNDICATE.

    I'm not fluent whit english,

Yes , I don't said it was bad with Alexios, I'm speacking about the story and the canon character. Like I said I don't share the same culture , nor the same knowledge of history and nor the same taste either. Most gamers don't said there opinions, like for me it's my first time to do that. Statistic speack itself, 75% of gamers choose Alexios, so there was an issue. Like for me don't include most gamers without numbers.

First of all, they killed Desmond several games back, and they replaced him with a "Floating Tablet" in BLACK FLAG and ROGUE, and some online dashboard in UNITY and SYNDICATE.
I agree, well i know this part, it's just now the assassins team in modern world are all women or almost.

Thank you for your opinion, since your answer does not really answer my questions, I suppose that you quickly read the first lines and not all of the text.

    Anyway, thank you.

I know that Desmon Miles's mind still lives in the world of "The Grey", and maybe Desmond Miles can be returned to the game with another body in the future.
I would love to have Desmond Miles come back to the game series

Desmond Miles had very good, exciting and awesome Modern Day missions in Brazil, Italy
Desmond Miles is one of the characters that make us love the Assassin's Creed game universe.
I know that Desmond Miles had a son named Elijah, who was born in 2005 and is now 15 years old.
Maybe Elijah can be our Main Character in the Modern Day missions in Assassin's Creed Game universe when he is 20 years old

I am sure that "Eivor" will be a pretty good character in Assassin's Creed Valhalla
The choice of gender is entirely in your hands, so the Canon character thing shouldn't be a problem for you, because it's just a character's main hero named "Eivor", it is up to you to choose it as a man or a woman.
Thank you for your answer and your opinion, I agree with you. But you know that they said the same thing in Odyssey and in the final we have Kasandra the canon character.(Why bother as with choosing, if our choice has no impact in the future franchise). Otherwise, I have already pre-order the ultimate game the first day, but if there is a canon I prefer that I don't have a pseudo choice. I'm an old fan of AC after all.

This nonsense again....Eivor is absolutely not a female name. Female names do not end in r, full stop...they just don't. Female names end in a or e most commonly but absolutely never in r. Names that end in r are pretty much 100% male names. Example: Victoria = female name, Victor = male name, Peter = male name, Petra = female name....etc. etc. etc. Beyond that Ubisoft have already said that both male and female Eivor will be canon.....not that it matters as these characters will never, EVER, be seen again after the end of this game so the whole canon arguments are absolutely meaningless as there is no canon

Ah that's good to hear that there is no canon this time, thank you.

...Eivor is absolutely not a female name...
Perhaps in english that seem to you that way, not in Nordic Names nor in my mother tongue . Secondly there is no one male Eivor in Finland, Norway, Sweden,Denmark all are women until now.
Well, even in famous people they are all women.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eivorhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eivor
    Eivor is a female name.
    Origin of Eivor

Eivor is a Nordic name (Old Norse Eyvǫr).
    Meaning of Eivor

Eivor means “luck in the spring”, “spring lucky”, “island of spring” or “defender”, “vigilant” (from Old Norse “auja” = gift/luck/fortune, or “ey” = island, in combination with “vár/vǫr” = spring, or “varr” = vigilant/cautious and “warjaʀ” = defender).
You can look for this information yourself.
Anyway, thank you for your answer, perhaps the most that satisfy me with no canon.

Japan has had a woman as emperor. Eight empresses actually. Including some that ruled for decades and even once back to back as mother and daughter.

Not going to touch the rest of your bigoted rant since it was already pointed out both sexes are canon for Eivor. Though with the name they’ve said there’s a plot reason.
