Ever think they went with eivor as it sounds like Ivar, or Ivor which are male names and just thought ... Close enough no one's going to get hung up on a name

Yeah, they probably did think the name was unisex, but I kind of doubt they were naive enough to think no one would get hung up on it. It's not like people complaining about minor stuff like that is something new to them. People complained about the option to play a female character, for Christ's sake...

I don't know... Doesnt' they had historians with them? And they could check on google it take like 35 secs, so I'm not sure, but maybe they thought it was unisex indeed, the thing is we don't have any answer from Ubisoft for that

Also does people complain about the option to play a female character or they fear that it will be 50/50 for vikings gender in battleground

No they complain, not just in this game in loads of games ... Reddit and game forums are filled with people moaning about female characters , I've even had people comment on my sexuality for playing female characters when given the choice of male or female

And to be honest I tend to pick females simply because my youngest daughter commented that all the characters were male and she doesn't want to play a male character , bare in mind this statement was made when she was 5 or 6, and since then I've tried to always pick female characters and she's slowly been getting more interested in gaming.

Her mother still feels it's something she shouldn't be doing but hey divorce means she can chill and play at mine.

I truly do find it sad and unfortunate that we as gamers can't be more open minded at times considering the open minds required to immerse one self with in a gaming world

I see, so it's another problem, I can't speak for the others, it didn't seem to me that the problem was there.

The possibility of having a choice I do not see the problem elsewhere, but what bothers me would be to have 50% of Viking women, while from what we know they were a minority, it is this kind of detail that bothers me in a video game that is based on History. However that we play a woman does not bother me, in the sense that for example, we could play a Joan of Arc, but do not make a generality

But the excuse of "women are not represented", you have to stop 5 minutes with this kind of nonsense, I don't see how it bothers, people have a serious problem of understanding, in a game you follow the story of a character, not your story, at least it seems logical to me, but everyone is free to lock themselves in a micro-cosm of course, moreover there are games where women are present (and very good), I strongly question the consistency of such an argument

(I don't really know the tone of the speeches here, so I say that my words have no animosity of course)

Were both adults and this is just a conversation with apposing viewpoints from what we see and how we, Ubisoft put it, consume the game.

Yes I agree with you that the game can't be 50\50 male female Vikings

Part of the reason they raided was not just to get riches and find land to farm but women as there wasn't many as you say.

O don't know how old you are but I'm mid 40s and a father to girls and when they have what I can see is legit complaint ( this is going back 6 to 8 years ago ) I have to stand up for my girls, things are improving but since being made aware of these issues that I never considered before, I just feel saddened that some of the player base aren't as open to the idea of female playable leads as a choice rather than having to stick to a female orientated franchise

Perhaps the Staff itself can do away with the need for an Animus ..... I was also thinking something to do with twins or perhaps something to do with the Izu portion of the DNA which was essentially an unknown before Odyssey

As far as Eivor being a female name ...... 99% of people would have never known if someone hadn't made a big deal out of it ......

The name won't change how the game itself plays so who cares? That's the way I look at it ......

I prefer to warn, because on Twitter for example, my God the level of understanding of people ...

It's the only thing that could bother me, twist the story, after as long as it stays faithful, whether we play a man or a woman it doesn't bother me like I said

I just wonder if we're not going to be "the nice little vikings who were just looking for a place to live", although I suspect that we will not be able to see the carnage that was committed (because yes there were carnages at that time)

For this last point I do not know what to think about it, it is clear that you are affected because it is the opinion of your daughters, we lose a little the "reason" side in contexts like these, but why not explain to your daughter that the game tells a story? Like a book, because that's the whole thing of Assassin's Creed, initially, to tell a story
