But its inconsistency, few things work fine on it.
I used to play it daily, now I don't, and every time I play I found a lot of things that are inconsistent, Revenge being the worst of all, but there's also external blocking, attack and GB tracking, attack damage. And those are basic things in this game, in any fighting game.
For Honor is out of hope of being a good game, even a decent game. I play it only because the concept is marvelous and there's no other game like it currently, but lets face it, it is beyond redemption due to a lazy egomaniac dev team (and I'm not talking about the quarantine right now, it's good that they slow their job a little to take care of themselves). I don't know if the game is still profitable to them, maybe they should review everything in this game, good and bad, wrap up with the new content and start developing the sequel in order to avoid commiting the same mistakes so the players don't find the same problems that are affecting the gameplay right now.
Exactly this. Beta : Dedicated servers. Launch : P2P for a whole year before they conceded. 12 months to admit your wrong. They even tried to blame us. Then finally back to dedicated servers. With no lag compensation??? This is when I realised they don't really know what they're doing. And who programs lobbies like this??? Leave players in limbo and mash them together. Have these guys ever played a game, let alone program one. A month later,A bandaid solution ' Stage 1 lag compensation. '. Which removed visual lag,but not actual lag. And that, my friends, is where it stayed. Do a search ' stage 2 lag compensation ' on this forum. What you will discover is the devs and moderators telling us their ' working on it ' . For 3 years. Does anybody still believe that? I don't. So we were left with a game with amateur lobby design, the worst matchmaking in gaming history and so many inconsistencies it was ruled out of every official gaming tournaments. Instead they concentrated on squeezing money from the customers it had already screwed over. The devs have always been toxic. The original moderators were awesome, which made it somewhat bearable. Now they are unhelpful and only seem interested in locking threads. I hope another company picks this game up. ubiSOFT have proved ,without a shadow of doubt, games like this are out of their league. Almost forgot. The moderators don't like it when you rant and don't offer solutions for them. My solution : Don't just tell people you're working on stage 2 lag compensation and actually do it. Simple really.
Some of your points are fine. However it's not just a greedy lazy dev team. It's a small team of people who probably work their butts off passionately on a concept they love, then when they come out with something, they constantly have to deal with people critiquing their work or just disregarding the work done completely to fit their "this game sucks" narrative.
Your right, the game is far from perfect, it's impossible even if they took a right turn from launch and changed most things, indicators, tracking, armor and ubs being as strong as they are and most characters without them are horrible. They really can only do so much. I respect them for even still trying. Especially with how cry baby we all are with a lot of our feedback.
I never said greedy, I said egocentric, and they are. They believe that they know what the community expects from their game, and they have been very vocal about it, while the reality is very different.Originally Posted by iadvisoryi Go to original post
They don't listen and they don't communicate anything anymore. Cent rework? Lag compensation? Revenge adjustments?
C'mon, Raider took them several months to correct, when they were having perfectly valid feedback about him.
It even looks like they don't really care about this game anymore, they just release content to monetarize on this game a little more instead of thinking about content that can give them real profit on it, and the proof to that is the very poorly planned Battle Pass.
When receiving multiple attacks, sometimes they are detected properly so you can block external attacks, an sometimes don't, I made a post about it some time ago and the only response was "the dev team is looking into that already", and that was many months ago.Originally Posted by Pankivtanke Go to original post
There are times when the game fails to detect the direction from where the attack is coming from, even marking several directions at once with one attack.
Game not good only bc dominion is main mode. You come to training, learn character mixups, tactics, smart moves, then you want to try it out online. And what happens? you faint heavy and enemy not going to dodge it, not going to parry, he just throw some light attacks and you get beaten. You try to do that fancy dance side dodje heavy-feint-light-heavy-feint-parry? you get stopped at start of this mixup bc you get light attack. And ofcourse there is raider running around and his friend who will hit you with unbclockable heavy when raider ride you to the wall. Lots of people come in FH bc its cool to play this kind of fighting with its mechanics. And leave FH bc in dominion only viable tactic is 4v1, throwing enemies from edges, throwing enemies into wall so your teammates hit with heavy.
So why bothering with all those mixups and feints? you can just throw lights. I have no idea how to change it, maybe make all light attacks not interupt anything that enemy does. Probably not good solution, but it will force people to learn block, parry, dodge and make gameplay not frustrating. For ganks in dominion - i have no idea. People enjoy for some reason to beat 1 enemy by gang. Im not feel any joy in it myself, it not show my skill or anything, that stomped guy can mixup me to hell solo, but FH not really award people playing cool and smart.
Duels and brawls are great modes, but here come balance issues (and ofcourse that light attack VS brain i mentioned before), i probably dont need to explain why zerk always good in duels, and what problem it show. But still, playing zerk well is way more cool than whole dominion mode.
I don't think there're many major balance issues anymore, I think the learning curve is so big and unforgiving that it can make this game frustrating to play at times. There is sometimes so much and sometimes so little that can go into any fight or battle, and every character is different. There are many things to watch out for, and I think players forget that this game is not to be taken too casually, which is disheartening to many.
You may have it easy-going or you may have to use your head and make some big gamer moments.
It can be hard for certain characters, but it's not because they aren't capable, it's just that other characters have things that others don't such as easy-access unblockables or HA. Different hero attributes WILL force you to have to stall or parry or dodge more depending on the hero, but you will see something like this even in more popular games like League of Legends. It IS possible to antigank and do amazing things with every hero, you would just have to do everything right and understand exactly what situation you're in at all times. You're likely to have moments of easily gankbusting a 1v2 or 3 or 4, but there will be other times where you will get smacked around until you're dead. That happens in every game, and you cannot win them all.
That's the healthy thing about this game. If it were more likely that someone would survive a 1v2 or 1v3 and so on, the game would become rather ridiculous. 1vX should be difficult, and in this case, against good opponents, it can be extremely challenging. I hate having opponents behind me, because indicators can switch from left to right in an instant if I or them change their positioning.
Revenge, although kind of weird at the moment, needs to be built up by defending, not hyper armoring through everything. Assassins are typically notorious at building revenge for attacking someone external blocking them, which takes me to my next point.
MANY people do not know how to gank, and will blatantly and aimlessly throw big attacks as soon as they can, and this can quickly build revenge against a player who can defend themself appropriately. Ganking is just as big a skill as antiganking, and I'm sure concepts are similar in League of Legends even in regards to 1vX.
A LOT of people don't fully understand the mechanics of FH, even some of the little ones that are just as important. Casual players may not look to watch YT videos about FH, and in that case, they'd be missing out on lots of valuable game knowledge and info. I can assume anyone who visits the forums or watches YT videos is more than casually committed to this game.
I don't think this is necessarily an issue, but the biggest "issue" is that this game is never really easy, and you must spend lots of time to progress your skills. Sometimes people are too quick to say, "That's ridiculous and BS" but there are actually a lot of good things about this game that keep me playing and entertained.
Are there flaws? Absolutely. Are they game breaking? To me, not necessarily. Is this a casual player's kind of game? Honestly, I don't think so. Whenever I play, I aim to try my very best to win and fight my hardest. Using my knowledge of each character, mechanics, and situations, I will always do what I can to survive and win. Sometimes I'll win, sometimes I won't. It is what it is.
To get on and expect to win every game with no "BS" or ridiculous crap is unfortunately not the way anyone should be looking at this game. You need to be thinking like an actual warrior. "If I run to C, will I come back alive?" Dramatic, of course, but expect this game to be hard. This game is hard, there isn't anything really easy about it unless you spend an enormous amount of time playing. You can't turn your brain off.
There are some issues, but they just make the game challenging, not necessarily broken at this time.
The devs will eventually fix some of the issues, but not with the likes of a pandemic.
I agree with you about the learning curve of the game and that this is not an easy game. I'm Ok with it, but specially in one thing I disagree with you, no game should be considered "casual unfriendly", every game should be enjoyable at every level of gaming, that's why matchmaking exists, but that's another inconsistent thing in FH.Originally Posted by MCBooma16 Go to original post
The things I enjoy about this game are its concept and the fact that I wanted something like it since Bushido Blade, but the game is currently so busted that I don't play for more than a few matches every other day, because there are so many inconsistent things that at some point it really gets in my nerves.
I don't have any hope of this game really improving in the future, that's why I said that the devs should think about wrapping up with it and maybe, if they are up to and want to read and listen to feedback, work on a sequel.
Maybe even bringing some players like Freeze to help with the quality control before launching any changes.
As a person who has been playing this game since beta I can say game is very very inconsistent from revenge to damage to feats to perks pretty much everything.
We have guys that will get revenge with one external parry then another ones will get ganked by 3 people will never see revenge in their lifetime.
Literally one hero will have absolutely nothing and other one will have everything. UB HP soft bash counter crash you name it. Skill only takes you so far.
They will go nerf one guy saying oh this is unbalanced unhealthy and then go give another guy even better one. Nerf already weak guys but buff already strong ones.
Now I don't want all characters to be same. But the gap between heroes are ridiculous. We have heroes like LB pretty much invincible or Jorg that can easily put 100HP difference in one move or super safe BP. Or play Shugo just HA your way.
