Dirt on clothes and guns toggle?

Whilst the feature is cool for immersion it's really exaggerated and turns guns even brushing a bit of foliage into some weird radioactive green paste. I got the game recently and love a lot of the new gear added but i can never see the gun camo or the clothes since they constantly get covered in really bright matte paste when i walk off road for a few minutes. Being able to turn this function on or off (or that it only happens when you use the prone camo mode) would be really appreciated as Its really jarring to constantly see.

Also IK there is the renew paint option but that doesn't last very long at all and doesn't help with boots and clothing either, perhaps a build up over a long period of time would be better, maybe even a condition system for Ghost Mode?

Yes a toggle option would be nice

    — agreed a toggle option or customization of how you want it like only prone like you suggested or the option to just turn it off completely like how they did the injury system would be great .

I can't imagine it would be the most difficult thing to implement either since it doesn't seem to be integral to any of the mechanics. It does make buying any cool camos or gear rather pointless too since they all look like the same mushy green mess after like 30 seconds of woodland trekking.

Or at least fix it so that it behaves the same as dirt on clothing. Currently weapons take ages for dirt to fade and goes on at the slightest touch.

I kinda want that to be optional as well as I got cool boots that are always go some bright muddy colour if i even look at dirt. Making it build up over time would be cool.

Limiting the dirty clothes and weapons to only happen after using prone camo, would be a great way to keep the immersion of the feature, without it being a constant annoyance. Good idea Desertcake.

This or like vahndaar says above. As much as I like giving the player options, this is only for gameplay mechanics that actually affect a player's playthtough. We don't need toggle options for everything minor in game. Just a bit of a correction to the mechanic is all. I'll be in the menus for decades trying to select my options otherwise for things that really do not need to be defined by the user.

    Weapon cleaning... maybe?

There was a thing in Metro Exodus - if weapon was used for too long in dirty conditions it was getting more and more dirty and performance was going down up to the point when if not cleaned on time it was broken.
Imagine spending weeks into the swamps, desert, mud, and not clean weapon... Not very immersive approach.

Weapon cleaning to maintain its performance would be cool, provided you didn't have to clean it every 5 minutes.
