    Skill builds: should we down tools?

    I'm getting frustrated by the damage output of skills in Heroic and above. So much so that after 1600 hours of almost nothing but skill build play I'm thinking of throwing the towel in on skills. The work to damage ratio simply isn't there; I spend entire missions ensuring that this mob is CC'd, that gunner is forced out of cover, that heavy is slowed down by stingers or fire etc etc while manouvering, at great risk, across the battlefield to lock down this or that approach only to reach the end of the misssion to find that for all that effort and concentration I'm achieving barely a third of kills and damage. Conversely the gun builds are doing very little movement very little risk and are netting all the benefits of other's labour.

    To that end, would my fellow skill builders consider downing their tools for a week and running gun builds. Hopefully we can get some gun builds on our side as they're going to start getting pushed way harder than otherwise would happen and we can add their majority voice to the argument. The devs focus on guns far too much and skill builds are in desperate need of some attention in Heroic and above. I.e. I can go from top of the board on Challenging to third or fourth simply by moving to Heroic. That scaling is way way off and too punishing on skills.

    ... Or we all only run moratars and seekers for the rest of the game's lifespan.

    when i got lazy ..

    ...i just clean heroic cp with seekers every 10 sec and hive for close protection on heroic of course and with all directive on ... if i am less lazy....

    i use sniper turret and hive for close protection .... for some fun i am using mortar build of course ...

    all these builds work perfectly solo ... My sniper turret do between 4 and 5 millions damage each shoot, .I have no problem cleaning any content so .... whats your problem guys ?

    Not to mention fantastic cc group builds.

    What sort of benefits are there for players with the most kills and highest damage? Personally, I know I am not going to have the highest number of kills in any group. I kind of assumed that those numbers were really just for bragging rights and that isn't why I play. I don't actually care who made the most kills. I do care whether I enjoyed the game or not. I also enjoy throwing my hive under a helicopter and wiping out incoming backup in one motion. I also enjoy the boom of the new sticky launcher. I know I am not the best gunner on the team, but I do get some kills in here & there and running in to strategically place my hive or turret gives me a bit of a thrill.

    The problem is in the thread. I've not said that it's too hard or impossible; I've said that in group matchmaking the scaling is off in Heroic and skills aren't outputting enough damage. I've also alluded to the fact that explosive builds are about the only decent damage build in Heroic and above for group play. Were you being lazy when you read the post?

    You must have some great god builds ?. My seekers run and go poof , no damage or just sit at the NPC feet ?. They stand next to my hive and it just sits and does nothing , My turret sits and will kill one then wait till the rest run by and then start shooting again,?. My drone will fly out look at npc say no and fly back , then fly over to shoot but gets melted in the process ?.

    Skill builds are bugged and broken , weak and wobbly ?. They NEVER work properly ?. Well on PC..

    It is not about being lazy , it is about having the choice , and about it WORKING ..

    Depends of the mission. Depends also sometimes of the part of a mission you are in. In legendary, its pretty often i change my build 3 4 times to adjust to what i will fight.And then, skill builds are just something very strong.

    So this is off of the top of my head but the numbers are about right; We have 15 damage based skills and 20 non damage based skills. We'll rule out the 20 non damage skills as this thread is about damage based skills. Out of those 15 around 5 have OK damage and two have good damage(sniper turret and mortar). So that translates to two, maybe three builds and they will be outperformed by one guy with an M1a sat on the start line in cover with 180rpm.

    That's a big problem for me.

    My eldest son plays Sniper turret + Seekers

    The Seekers help getting the enemies out of cover for the rest of the team and also some damage to them.
    The Sniper turret is where he gets his kills.

    Activity reports, we don't even look at them, it's all about getting it done in the most efficient way possible.

    The problem I see is this division (no pun intended) between gun builds and skill builds. I thought SHD Agents were supposed to be proficient in both but the current state of the game doesn't really allow us to be effective with both for the most part. I'm still enjoying playing the game and I mostly use gun builds for DPS or run CC when needed but I use gun builds because thats how I can effectively push the end game content... not because I'm just a gun build guy and not a skill build guy.

    My thoughts exactly.

    And that doesn't even consider when there's an objective you have to destroy, like the missile launchers at the end of Tidal Basin. Or the turret generators in The Tombs.

    Or when a heavy just runs up and kicks over your hive or turret....because for some reason the devs thought it was cool to have an entire style of play turned off with a one-shot mechanic.

    Or when an elite looks sideways at your drone.

    Or when there's a pulse generator that turns off your entire build....but that guns are immune to.

    Or when you smash a heavy 10+ times with an explosion that kills elites in 2 hits, and everything else in 1.



    The drawbacks with skills are so many that it's astounding that the devs even put them in the game. If we have to sacrifice both armor and weapon damage in order to use them, then they should F**kING work! No maybe work. Not 3 out of 5 times work. 100% of the time I activate my skill it needs to work as intended.
