Isn't it the case that if there is a new version of the game (which still is a big if) there will likely be a new version of the cable as well, due to the original cable being incompatible with some newer USB 3 ports?

May be worth considering before splashing out.

They could have released a new version at any point. It's not really game version dependent. It's just a simple input only interface. Not saying they wouldn't do something new for a potential new game just that there was nothing stopping them from updating it already if they had felt the need.
