Division 2 Hard crashes requiring PC re-boot | Forums

For some weird reasons I'll occasionally get a hard crash that completely locks to PC that the only way forward is a re-boot.

The issue is random can occur anyway in the game, including even starting the game as just now happened, and thus this post. The first time it happened was a few months back where going into or out of the White House (home base) the game would suddenly freeze the entire PC. Oddly the game's sound would still be playing but the entire PC would be un-responsive requiring pushing the power button on the PC case.

Anyway the issue went away for a few months until a path release about 3 weeks ago. This time the issue appeared in Washington Monument where you have the final boss fight. Like the White House crash, it would happen in the same area. And again, same result - complete PC freeze requiring a re-boot.

At that time, frustrations mounting, I uninstalled both UPlay and the game. Last night I reinstalled the the game. This afternoon I played about 3 hours without issue. Taking a break I come back start the game.... hard crash requiring a PC reboot

I'm running a custom built (by me) i9 system - i9-9900K, 5 SSD drives (OS on NVMe 512GB drive), games on a 2TB SATA SSD drive, 32gig of RAM; Radeon VII GPU, Windows 10, x64 1909 build. System NOT overclocked. All drivers up to date (obsessive about that), including the BIOS. This is the ONLY app that causes issues. Nothing else in the system is problematic - ONLY Division 2. No other issues with other games - Outer Worlds, Bioshock Infinite, Witcher 2. BTW Here's my system at tenforums.com.

Anyone know what's happening?

I've had a similar issue twice in the last four days. Game locks up with a repeating sound. I had to kill the application in task manager. I never experienced the issue previously.

At least you could use task manager. Mine completely locks the PC that only a re-boot can fix.

Anyway I just got another instance today prior to this post. Was cleaning out some excess gear in my inventory at base when the system suddenly froze. Once again, the only way out was a system reboot.

I'm beginning to think these last couple of game patches are what's causing the issues.

For me, the issue doesn't happen all the time, but when it does the huge annoyance is the only way out is a hard restart. I might go months without an issue, but once a new patch is released that's when the issues occur and then as suddenly as they appeared they go away until a new patch. That's my cycle.

Same, started after TU9 went live.

Hard crashes on startup, repeating sound.

Full reboot required.
