Financial District - odd room by Dragov comms

Anyone know what this room is? It's in the location where there's a Dragov comms. The brown door can't be interacted with, and no activities seem to spawn up there.

It appears to be an aborted project. If you look through the ajar double door, you'll notice that there is no rendered room beyond it. There is simply a textured black panel.

Moreover, if you turn around, you'll notice that the interior of the exterior wall isn't even skinned.

It's funny I recorded this exact room and was going to put up a thread on the same subject.

    Yep the doorway to nowhere.

Looks like a spawn point for random npc patrols. If you follow random patrols throughout the world you will see them go into and come out of doors you can't open and sewer lids that you can't interact with. It's just a clever way to spawn and despawn enemies in the open world without breaking immersion.

Difference is with this doorway is you have interact prompt when you go upto it you then press interact and you can open the door and go in the room, then you have the brown double door inside.

Spawn points don't have an extra doorway you can interact with.

At the end of the mission where you kill Kajika is also a door you can interact with but it it won't open, just the interaction disappears, any idea what that one is about?

I noticed that one, too... on my first run through. Currently, interaction with it has no known consequence.

Two possibilities come to mind, given that interaction with it is separate and distinct from gaining access to Kajika's secret stash room:

    1. It's an aborted project, as hypothesized for the above.
    2. It's either a piece to a future puzzle (ie. akin to Hydden Hotel, hunter spawning, etc.), or an entry/access point to a future map update.

My money is on the former, as in the OP example... where I suspect that the object modellers were rushed (deadline), so the interior of the exterior wall isn't skinned, and the map makers missed the opportunity, were likewise rushed, and/or simply otherwise decided not to include an item of interest (ie. crate, etc.) there.

Or 3. they put it there solely to confuse people

I agree, probably some cut content killed by time constraints. Pity that such things will most likely never be readded.

The brown rusty one? There are two more like that on the other side of the room in the steam section. I wonder if they are some sort of puzzle.

There are two doors with interact in that area.
