For many months i was raging about texture not loading, fast traveling 60 secondes... heck... sometimes i was still inside a lift and could hear friends clearing the room before i went out lol.
I am not really a nerd about computer nor hardware... but when my friend told me... dude... it's time for you to get an extern SSD drive... (i didn't know what was it)
So i did, and oh boys and girls... my life has changed, i took 15 to 20 sec for fast travel now, texture loading on time, don't have desync audio.
here a short video of texture not loading and time travel, if you don't own one... do it now.
ps: Also including in this video is a bug that happen few times at grand washington hotel, NPC stuck on the balcony.
Yes but the game was designed to run on a standard PS4, so it should be optimized to work with standard issue PS4 hardware.
I have to agree with the OP, I was able to upgrade to an internal SSD (as suggested by Moesuvious a few months back) and the game does run much better. However, it is not an option for all players to upgrade their PS4, or buy and external hard drive. Seems like it should be on the shoulders of the developer of the game to make it run on the system it is sold for.
I didn’t try division 2 with an SSD but a few other games and didn’t notice any difference between the two so removed the SSD and went with a larger external instead and using the SSD in a computer instead.
If more players are experiencing improvement with an SSD I might have to get another one and try it myself. The ps4 was never really designed for SSD drives since at the time they were to expensive for most customers. Granted the games I did try were older and most likely were optimized for SSD but then again it could have been the ps4 itself since I have the first gen from release.
Would be interested in what others have noticed and which models they are using. Personally I didn’t see that much improvement as you would expect from loading time over the standard drive but they (Sony) have upgraded things some. I wouldn’t be surprised if the ps4 pro users noticed an improvement.
What models are the two of you using? If you don’t mind me asking of course
I highly recommend SSD's for any console. Do NOT install them directly into the PS4. The controller interface is slower then the USB 3 connection.
Games like Destiny, Division and others load about 30-40% faster on average. In game fast travel can be significantly faster. When I play with family members on the same systems, same games, I'm always playing the game while they are still loading into the next area. I run into the odd time when someone else in a random group loads first, but that is usually a server connection thing.
Edit: Almost forgot...
You need a 1 TB drive to see max speed. The average person does not realize that the size of the drive affects the ability of said drive to access information on it. Over 1TB the difference is not currently noticeable. Under 1 TB it is. If cost is a factor, at least go with a 512GB one. Anything less is a waste of money.
I never tried SSD externally. But I did try internally. It wasn’t a 1tb drive but 512gb. The newer models have a more likely chance to improve but older ones I didn’t see any real improvement when I tried but this was before division 2 came out and I have to many games on my external and would defeat the purpose of downloading games if I need to change external drives when I want to play a different game. That’s the whole reason I stopped buying disc games and went all digital.
Was thinking/considering getting a PS4 pro but personally going to just wait for the next gen and save my money for that but that is me. Can’t speak for everyone of course. I’ve heard the slim and newer models and of course the pro work well with SSD drives but the original from the release didn’t show much difference at least for me. But like I said I never tried external SSD. If I see one at a decent/sale price I might try it but I am not going to go out of my way to get one but then again I have to manage my money due to being out of work and more than likely won’t find work or be able to work again.
Thank you so much for the video!
We have seen growing reports of this issue among the community and we have passed this on to our teams here.
It looks like an old bug which is making a re-occurence recently with the incentive to play the missions on challenging/ heroic with the new man hunt.
Thanks for reporting Agents
