He's still there well he was after yesterday's maintenance, the direction you face when doing your jumping jacks is important now though. I will say this after a certain amount of kills he stopped spawning and relogging, jumping into another instance etc wouldn't bring him back so maybe he's spawn capped.

OP here. Apologies to Massive and everyone sucked into this thread.

As soon as I came off my night shift at the hospital I logged in to check this out again - and the symbol was back. Yesterday after maintenance the symbol was gone in it's place was a smudge on the floor and no amount of athletic jack jumping could activate Yannick, Another player confirmed to me that he could not see the symbol either. Today - it is there, and Yannick appeared first time.
