Idea For a New AC Game And/Or Book/Comic
Ancient Carthage - The Punic Wars
Assassin’s Creed: Annihilation
Historical Account
The first war started after Agathocles, a Greek tyrant that led Syracuse and was a “self styled king” to Sicily, died in 288BC or 289BC (couldn’t find a concrete date). He had a band of mercenaries under his control, which after their employer died led an assault on Sicily and took over Messana. Naming themselves Mamertines (or "Sons of Mars"), they became a law unto themselves, terrorizing the surrounding countryside. Herio II the new Tyrant of Syracuse planned to eradicate them and while a fleet from Carthage sailed to the Strait of Messina to take control of Sicily. The Sons of Mars then split, seeing a vastly superior force of Carthage, half just wanted to surrender while others wanted to appeal to Rome for help. Seeing how the Strait of Messina would be in Rome’s best interest to control, Rome’s council eventually agreed to help. Thus the Carthage and Roman armies battled and would eventually lead to a few other wars and would lead to the fall of Carthage in 146BC.
Templar’s Story
After appealing to Rome for help the Sons of Mars would end up having communication with the Templar’s in Rome that had seats on the Council. In exchange for Rome’s help the Templar’s wanted the Sons of Mars to work for them as mercenaries. It started out as simply pointing at who to kill and they would execute. Many years later they would become a full branch of the order acting primarily as skilled assassins and enforcers. Throughout the Punic Wars the Templar’s discovered that an Isu Temple was under the city of Carthage and ordered the raise of the city which then started the third and final Punic war where the Sons of Mars lead the Seige which would lead to Carthage’s fall while also getting agents in the city to search for the temple and to weaken the Assassins.
Assassin Story
While the assassins have been present in Carthage sense the city gained its freedom in 650 BC. The story of our assassin would begin at the start of the third Punic War in 149BC where they would be under attack in their village by the Romans and the Templar’s on their way to Carthage. In AC fashion they would see their loved ones fall by the hands of a Templar. Full of rage they attack the Templar and gets severely wounded and just before the Templar kills them they get saved by a..... Assassin, who kills the Templar and both escape to Carthage on horseback. This is where they learn about the Assassins and Templar’s and joins the war. They struggle to defend their home against an unrelenting army. While on an Assassination they find out about the Isu temple through letters between high ranking Templar’s meant for Rome. Upon this new revelation they discard the their target and race to Carthage to inform the Brotherhood. A race for the temple starts, the Assassins trying to find it and slow the incoming armies while Templar agents are already in the city searching coming close to their treasure and plotting the incoming siege. The armies are raising the city but the true battle is in the temple that our Assassin but only after the Templar agents plan an ambush for them once they reached the main chamber and reboots the temple. Our Assassin gives an honest fight but falls to the Templar’s, his target that he abandoned after he found proof of an Isu Temple reviled themselves to be the leader of the Sons of Mars and executes them. The story ends with the city of Carthage being raised and the Assassin Brotherhood being annihilated by the Templar Order.
