Ubisoft I beg of You.
Allow us to manually press a button to stick to the cover/wall.
This isn't that difficult to assign an extra buton... while it makes a ton of a difference.
Make it like it's in Splinter Cell Blacklist, where You do have a cover button.
Otherwise we struggle to fight with this auto mechanic You created instead of focusing on gameplay.
This auto thing barely works correctly and breaks the game alot.
All of this can be fixed by assigning one extra button for this action.
Also please do change a priority of manual interaction (climb action to be more specific).
I can't climb if I walk forward into an obstacle.
I need to stop the movement input then I can interact, which is stupid and counter intuitive.
Please make an interaction action to be higher priority than movement action.
It will make very much of a difference in the gameplay.
Just do it!![]()
Uhhhhh… I must be playing something else, because I haven't had any problems with any of this....Originally Posted by Sephoroidus Go to original post
Instead of moving to a hard cover system maybe a good compromise would be to add in a R6 style lean. I too have trouble with the soft cover at angles: especially shooting around corners, shooting above cover, and indoors where the camera and softcover makes things feel encumbered. I think having a lean mechanic should be put back into Ghost Recon, it would make shooting indoors more fluid, also it would allow the player more flexibility in utilizing cover where we can use angling and offsetting (standing away from cover to provide optimum visibility/cover), instead of having to always be right up against cover to initialize the soft cover system every time.
It's the same cover system that was in wildlands, and is not an issue... at all... I wouldn't have a problem with players being able to choose, but i'm happy with the cover system the way it is, and i'm sure i'm not the only one... taking it out because of a few people who can't get it to work the way they want it to would be absolutely insane.
Not a big fan of the cover system, Future Soldier had a really amazing movement system. But I think it's more of the player to world interaction that causes all of the hiccups. As the terrain is bugged out of this world and does not offer smooth traversal of anything. I honestly think cover needs to be hot keyed though. As in closed areas it can be extremely annoying that's why they oversize every thing in the game.
I'm a tier guy in GRWL so I know for a fact that movement and cover system is not even close.
Not to mention GRWL cover wasn't perfect either, I personally would like to have full controll over ingame actions instead of guessing if it will work properly or not this time around.
So if some people feel like pressing an extra button is problematic, I suggest to add this action assign possibility as an option.
I'm the kind of player who likes to play the game, not watch how it plays itself.
I want my controlls to be all the way manuall.
Please make it optional to get rid of all authomatic controll crap.
It might be good for some players playing using controllers or those who hate to press buttons on a keyboard, but dont force everyone into this, please.
Playing a game = pressing buttons.
I dislike when a game tries to do it for me.
It's fine mechanic for an interactive movies, but not for a video games.
For those who say it's ok to not have a manual cover system I will provide some personal experience example of how "well" it works:
So I was playing a ghost war with my cousin and I got myself camping in very narrow space.
While he noticed me I was trying to get the hell out of there quickly.
I didn't…
Guess why?
Despite me pressing shift and a movement key as hard as I could in the direction of an exit, my character wasn't doing what I intended him to do.
My character decided I want him to stick to all walls around him, which made a quick escape impossible without a nonexising manual input correcting it.
So I died.. obviously.
BTW.. space I was in was rly tiny and covers were close to eachother.
There is no way to avoid this problem and take a quick action at the same time.
Also noone is supposed to do tricky workarounds in this situation, just because the real solution is super simple.
Devs need to make manual steering possible, it's easy and it doesnt have to be enforced on everyone.
I hate this kind of broken mechanisms in games.
Simple manual input doesnt need to be taken away, to make a room for a broken automatic system just to spare me pressing one button.
I did fix the simillar autocrap issue myself in Splinter Cell Blacklist and it was super easy thing to do.
Just needed to edit one config file, 5 minutes of work and so much of a relief.. just to have my character do exactly what I wish him to do, in every possible scenario.
This should be default and extra fancy systems should be optional.
The problem is that I can't fix it in GRBP as there is an anticheat.
So I do ask here to be reasonable on this subject.
BTW MP21stEnforcer I'm rly happy for You not having any issues with auto cover thing.
Though IDK how did You came into a conclusion that there is only "few" players having an issue with it.
It might not be very hot topic in here, simply because the game is full of many bugs and people do have better things to cry about.
Still that doesn't mean there is only "few" people who see this thing as an issue.
I personally think that there is a good chance of the opposite.
When the open and closed beta for breakpoint came out I really didn’t have a problem with, even when the game launched the movement was ok but not all that great not to mention the cover system and interaction with ladders and vault over objects. But the more I play breakpoint the more I’m wanting the movement and interaction to be better.
For example, I know the character jogging across the open world is something left over from wildlands, but it’s coupled with the new “ slide down a hill “ mechanic that seems to confuse the character. Sometimes my character will be struggling to get over a small hump or do the animation of climbing the side of a mountain but on a flat surface. Other times my character will be “jogging” on an inclined slope that’s about 5 degrees in angle but it will do a crouching animation as he is jogging. It almost seems like the character is trying to do two different things a once, walk in a straight line and climb up/down hill at the same time. This needs to be looked into.
I think the interactions also need work. For instance, when climbing up or down a ladder, I think it should be one fluid motion. Just simply press and hold the interact button to climb or side down, let go if you want to stop climb / slide. The way it’s setup now is two parts, 1 interact with the ladder and 2 move your character in the up or down position or hold the stance button to slide. I’ve gotten in many situations were the two part approach has cost me the element of surprise or even the objective because I could get up/ down the ladder fast enough.
Like wise, picking up bodies is way too time consuming. It would be better to have a “grab and drag” option were you simple drag a body out of the way. Add as well the ability to shot your main weapon as you drag the body or buddy.
And finally the ever popular cover system. I don’t like the division that much as a game but, the one thing I do like that I wish breakpoint had, is the cover system. I kinda understand why the cover system is the way it is, to make the game play more fluid, but frankly it’s not as polished as it should be. Therefore it would be better to have a manual cover system just like the divisions cover system. Breakpoints cover system is too unpredictable. You basically stick to everything you touch. That’s not good if your trying to fall back get in better cover or trying to surprise attack an enemy as he is walking towards you but your character decides it’s a better I’d to have his whole butt sticking out of cover. Just as example.
Lastly, a slide mechanic in place of a roll would be better to have since it of other play to quickly slide to cover while still keeping track of the enemy. Thank you so much for listening to our suggestions as a community. We really hope to see some of these changes come to breakpoint sometime in the near future. Keep up the good work.
Whenever players have problems like this the developer should automatically Implement a off/ on setting in the game menu, so that players can decide whether they want to use automatic cover or not.
The developers will never satisfy everyone but having the option to adjust setting in the game menu is a great start and I mean settings for just about everything!
I also noticed that the developers have a habit of combining menu settings which is not good!
Everything should have its own separate off/on setting in the game menu because if they don't the Developers are just going to create more problems for gamers.
For example:
Why in the world would I want my menu (objectives) off / on setting combined with (sync shot) off / on?
It just doesn't make sense! When I have objectives on I only want to find objectives only.
It's like the developers fix 3 things and then mess up 2. I keep scratching my head! I just can't understand it!
