There's no such thing as good RNG or bad RNG there's just RNG. Unfortunately people are rather short term in their thinking whereas if RNG had a mind it would be of the infinite variety. If there were a way to describe what you are seeing other than just pointing out that it's RNG then I suppose you could call it a dry season. I hope it rains soon for you.
To be fair we don't have a clue how "RNG" is implemented, there could be criterias we don't know anything about.Originally Posted by RichardOshea Go to original post
If it is pure RNG you're right but who knows if that is what we are talking about?
Since Tuesday I have played about 30+hrs... I've been doing Heroics mission via MM, Heroic world difficulty and MM the DZ. So grinding hard and efficient. Have had a few Exotics drop but the rolls on them were pure trash.
In fact the rolls on most things were trash. I'm talking attribute rolls in the lower 25th percentile... on Heroic missions and in the DZ... that's BS! Single or double god roll attributes were maybe a 1 in 100 occurrence, but they always suffered from the rainbow or misaligned gearset type/attribute issue (wyvern rolled with all red attributes or Provident with all yellow).
Why do loot chests not scale with mission or world difficulty?
In summary 30+ hrs with no real gear progression. That sucks!
It's not RNG if there are weighted points that's just a weighted loot table. What I understand, I could easily be wrong, from the language the devs use to describe it is that we have a series of loot tables within which a standard RNG mechanic operates. So you increase your potential for drops by targeting your loot. That only increases the possibility of a good drop, it doesn't guarantee it. I doubt that the devs would want to go into detail on how their specific loot is generated anyway as that would just lead to demands for change until people are sated... which would be never!Originally Posted by retro1236 Go to original post
What do you mean, don't you like playing for hours and getting absolutely nothing for days on end?Originally Posted by Riflemania Go to original post
You are all forgetting three (or was it four) weeks ago when there was an unscheduled maintenance.
When the game came back up the vendors all had the same stock but the rolls on the items were all LOWER. They have a switch/value where they can alter the global value or % drop chance of the loot. This is obviously applied after a maintenance. Since that day I don't believe I have collected any useable loot.
RNG seems worse than before WoNY. I like the new items and new brand sets, but the best I seem to get is stat changes for Library from time to time. I feel like getting better gear is so much harder. Exotics has become something of a nightmare too. New ones seem really cool, but can't get them. Me, personally, have only gotten one new exotic (with low stats) from someone giving it to me because he had already gotten it.
Before WoNY, I was able to attain almost all of the exotics. Why was that so bad? I had to earn it. I guess they felt it was too easy. It's a video game. It's supposed to be enjoyable.
One thing they could do. Have a normal quality with set stats. and a high quality with set stats, but slightly higher. For example: A gun with normal quality base damage 50 and high quality base damage of 55. Poor example, but you get the meaning. Of course you have to go through something like Heroic or Legendary for it, but it will please the hardcore crowd and the devs.
