So let's put some numbers to this.Originally Posted by We.the.North Go to original post
Going by 2018 figures on wikipedia Ubisoft had a gross revenue of around $1,732,000,000. A thirty percent loss in this over a year would mean a loss of $519,600,000, now bear in mind that their net profit that year was $139,452,000 that would be a loss over a year of close to $400,000,000. I could probably make this more accurate if I went through their quarterly financial reports, or knew someone who could make sense of it and was bored enough to do that for me, but this is good enough for purpose.
If it got to the point that Ubisoft were making that kind of loss, unless you are telling me that their ~15,000 employees are making $400,000,000 between them you're talking a drop in the ocean. This isn't about making a profit on their employees, this is about minimising their losses and maybe not having to let any of those employees, who probably don’t care whether ubi or the government pays their wages, go. Let's be clear here there is no 'making a profit' for ubisoft if it gets to the point that they qualify for for the 75% rate however they work things.
As an Public Accountant myself, I can see more reason in this response.Originally Posted by CandleInTheDark Go to original post
I got something I should to you guys about For Honor: this is one of the best fighting games I have ever played in so far, I love Soulcalibur VI, Street Fighter V (I suck at combos that are anything beyond simple), and Tekken series (I only got into the more recent ones being Tekken 6,7, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2. This wonderful fighting game you have created blatantly forces you to play mind games with your opponent, i.e. minimizes the flashing lights, colors, and all the other superficial stuff that is meant to draw people in when they don't see the beauty of the game's mechanics. Anyone can beat anyone with any character so long as you win the battle of the minds. True, some characters are far more limited than others, i.e. Centurion, Warlord, Aramusha, etc. (though I honestly don't think that any other character is as low tier in theory except for Shugoki but you buffed him a great deal). I love the style of this game, as it's very fresh in its realism of combat in comparison to other fighting games when everyone is basically a superhero or villain (from what I've played anyhow).
Thank you for making such an amazing fighting game, and I'm really sorry I didn't realize this sooner: it took me a long time just to get used to the mechanics (I became so frustrated that I had to put the game aside and just chill because it just didn't click for me yet) and only just recently realized how perfect the game is in every mode combat-wise (I can't speak to feats because when I play anything that isn't 1v1 or 2v2 I generally get ganked into oblivion and I still need to work on being able to handle more than two opponents.
You're done an incredible job and I'm eager to see what lies in store for us in the upcoming season.
Thanks for giving it a try! This is a super interesting perspective to come to For Honor with.Originally Posted by FirmNips Go to original post![]()
Well, Covid got me playing again. I was meant to be traveling, now im eating highlander kicks instead of authentic sushi.
'The worlds gone mad' - personally I hope everyone stays safe and maybe the positive is that it puts a little perspective into those playing the game - its just a game, there's a terrifying world out there, lets just enjoy the pixels
I really like the new hero but the rest is f*ckin' bullsh*t. You kill the warden, lawbringer and the conqueror and anyone want that. You change the parries, now it doesnt consume stamina. WHY?
You f*ck up the entire game. I was playing since march 2019 every day, and now i dont want to play anymore.
Congratulations for honor developers! You have destroyed one of my favorites games.
Please, change that all. Except the change of the light, that was great.
