They're too clunky to use reliably. The stow/ready animations are ridiculous in combat because they're so slow. If I wanted to lower my character's survivability, I'd ready a sig weapon.

Generally I don't use the signature weapon. It takes too long to swap to. And with only a few exceptions, just don't warrant the use.

I will say that's changed drastically with my most recent build(mortar turret). Things dies fast enough to explosives that plenty of signature ammo drops. So I tend to keep the nade launcher handy for when the mortar is reloading, if I need it. Also, it helps speed up fights against heavies.

I think, like many things, it can depend on the build/playstyle. For all of you, what would make the Spec weapons feel more impactful for your build or just in general? Just a matter of damage, or more emphasis on the secondary traits (Armor on minigun, Status Effect for Crossbow/Flamethrower, etc.) or something else entirely?
    The problem is situational utility.
The problem is Signature weapons don't scale well with difficulty levels
    Especially Minigun and Flame Thrower

Flame thrower requires an extremely specific build to utilize effectively - and the damage output is still pretty bad.
While enemies flame thrower can insta kill you - your flame thrower scratches. The only good thing about Flame thrower is its CC potential with Combos but it requires way to much effort compared to just using raw damage.

I voted yes but I meant no. Why did you phrase your question differently in the poll???

Never since NY update. It's useless & time consuming.

Yup, I mostly play the gunner spec, Minigun is much better then it was but i just don't really feel it that useful. same for the rest of the spec. weapons. Also takes too long to draw it out.

I didn't really express much interests in other than the sharpshooter class and before the release the idea of those weapons has been quite interesting. After the games release though, the ammo was just too scarce to even think about using it. It had gotten a little better with the addition of the bar that fills and you get a guaranteed drop of ammo. Still, it wasn't enough for me to use the rifle more often.

After the TU8 and with the nerf of damage it does to named enemies, the weapon has become more of an nice 'trinket' that hangs from my backpack. I use it occasionally against the normal enemies, but ammo is still too scarce and the swap-speed is too slow. Using the normal weapons, including the sidearm, just is more effective. The special feat, to hit multiple weakpoints, doesn't really make a difference here. I very rarely have enemies line up their weakpoints for me.

To make them more useful, I would first increase the swap speed as well as some more ammunition and then maybe think about lifting the nerf against named enemies, or come up with some other kind of feat. Also the ammunition shouldn't reset to zero after fast traveling to certain locations, which of course should apply to all the special weapons. I collected the maximum and traveled to NY from DC and it was all gone.
