Hey guys, I tried a few approaches, but I find it impossible to destroy all his armor before he dies. I even grinded the Merciless, especially for this mission. But it doesnt seem to work as described in other threads. Has the gun effect been nerfed? Is there another way of destroying his armor. After some 30 tries Im open to any and all cheesy methods to do it.
This mission is BS, almost seems like they made it BS hard to sucker money out of people, so they can skip these missions. Another fine example of BS micropayments making the game worse for everyone.
All i did was kill every other enemy there present, and just run around with him.
Holding my pistol out and just 2-3 shots everytime at particular armor spots untill they fall off.
He chases you, swings. And in the time he swings i shoot him.
Started with the legs/shoulders/head and then chest.
That's how i was able to get the kill after 7 tries.
you need to chill brother, I myself failed a lot of times before I succeeded.
Just in case you want to play again, Ill share you what I did
1. I specced TANK for the fight on SOLO NORMAL difficutly, given this fact, my heals are on and so is my shield
2. Killed all adds first, just kiting big boss around, you wont die on NORMAL while on tank specs
3. Then comes the 1 v 1 part, you need to practice for this on HANDGUN and nice aims on those armors pieces, HELMET, 2 SHOULDERS, BODY ARMOR, 2 KNEE ARMORS are all you need to destroy
4. Pretty frustrating really at first, I tried like 5 - 6 times before I succeeded. Goodluck.
@Pandemonia You are not wrong. That quest is pretty broken right now. It used to work ok with different skills/strats but recent patches have made it a chore. You might see people suggest demo grenades, oxidizer, or foam to make it easier to get at him. None of those work anymore. I tried dozens of different combinations and techniques. I think the only way to do it now is bulwark shield and pistol, the long slow way.
Running back through the gate to an older area doesn't exclude the minor mobs anymore. They will follow just like Basilisk and still have to be killed while Basilisk is taking swings at you. Most can be killed before the pull though so that you'll only have to deal with one add at a time when the last few file in.
Go for the arms first, and the right arm is hardest since he's always turning a bit to put his left side forward. The arms have an INSANE amount of armor on them. Just a few misses on the arms and the chest will break, so try to avoid that. The chest is easy to break later. This is also a good time to practice the location aiming. A good shield spec will mean you don't have to roll away from him either; the shield will take his hits fine.
With the shield up, take a hit and move back a step or two. He will usually play a slow walking back animation sequence that will make it easier to land consistent shots. That pattern was very consistent and made it easier to land shots.
Shoot slow, single shots. Fast shooting will do more damage to places you don't want it (especially when the chest breaks so easily). Expect only 2-6 arm hits between each time he attacks, and twice that for the legs. The main goal is no white damage.
Watch for the leg stagger. The leg armor doesn't show like the other areas, but once you drop a leg's armor he'll stagger down on it. That's your cue to move to the other leg.
Be very patient, and expect it to take a while. If he's very near death, let him kill you to reset the scenario stage, so you don't have to start the whole mission over.
Doing it this way works consistently, but takes 30 minutes just for the Basilisk fight. It's tedious and not fun. I think Massive made intentional changes to get players to use the shield for this sage, like how other stages pushed other configurations.
Hello.
I'm having serious problems trying to finish this assignement. I tried every single approach and watched many videos on YT.
The fact is that I indeed stripped him down many times, but when I finish him the research won't complete. I'm so sure that I stripped him down completely because the first time I managed to do it I also unlocked the UNDRESSED TO KILL achievement, so I'm pretty sure I did it right. But when I got the achievement the research didn't complete, even if it's the same exact goal (strip him down before killing him).
When he was without armour I also tried the left knee spot as stated some videos and threads, but I just killed him.
At this point I'd like to know if there is some kind of bug introduced lately, because I already wasted two days on this.
Equip either decoy or the pulse drone, etc so you can see EVERY piece of armor on him and the status of each. Second, you can leave 1 enemy alive besides him. if you fail, die to that enemy and when you respawn the encounter will reset. The object completes as soon as he dies so if you don't get i when he dies, you can reset it quickly.
As stated, if you cannot kill him if your hitting the right parts.
Hello Dragonmaster and thanks for replying.
My problem is not killing him early than expected. I can manage to strip every part of armour with patience and already managed to do it 3 or 4 times. As stated above the first time I also unlocked the achievement which consists in completely stripping down an elite enemy before killing him. That's to prove I did the right thing. The problem is that when I give him the final shot the research objective doesn't unlock. I can kill myself easily with a grenade when I fail, but I already tried 20 times with every different combination and order.
Using pulse and decoy was my first choice and before giving him the fatal shot I checked carefully with pulse that every piece of armor was gone.
I'd just want to know if I have a chance or not. Maybe it's not unlocking because of some weird situation.
Thanks again.
