I think the other issue is that the game is currently very inconsistent. One game all your attacks are working, blocks, counters, parrys are all registering. Then the very next game nothing is working! Everything is going through your blocks, counter GB has no effect, & parry's dont even register. That's why most games are completely one sided & incredibly frustrating. When u get a rare close game & things go down to the wire with clean fair play it can be fun!
my friend and I were discussing this same exact thing a couple of days back. Not sure what exactly it is, if it's a network issue, if it input lag or the game just giving the opponent the advantage for some reason. no clue.I think the other issue is that the game is currently very inconsistent. One game all your attacks are working, blocks, counters, parrys are all registering. Then the very next game nothing is working! However I know exactly what you mean.
but usually when things like what you said are mentioned certain people get really upset and defensive and usually their responses are like "you're just bad", "you're just being out played" etc etc.
Exactly my sentiments. Just taking a sample size of 10 games I played recently. My team got blown out 5 times not even close. We were breaking after less than 5 minutes average 1-7 K-D. Nothing was registering it seemed everything was going so slow & activating levers on gates & bridges had what seems like a half second delay. We blew out the other team in 3 of the other games where everything was working & our team all averaged something like 8-2 K-D. Only 2 games went the distance where both teams were breaking & it usually came down to which team had more captures. K-D was comparable for both teams. Even back to back games were wildly inconsistent. However the thing that was consistent was that usually the team with the highest combined ping would win and the players with the highest ping usually had the most kills! This seems to imply that there is a slight lag advantage to players with higher or fluctuating ping. I'll press GB first on my screen but turns in to a counter GB because of lag. I'll throw out a light attack with an Assasin but get hit first by a heavy attack from a Heavy! Things like this make the game wildly inconsistent & often feel like your inputs are not registering in time or at all. I'm not sure what the solution to this is though.Originally Posted by Real_Doll Go to original post
A couple of things I would bring up with the video - I did think his tone was reasonable, even though I found myself confused at some parts:
A. The phrase "meta" is an interesting one. I'd say a better word for how the community may think of LB and Jorm is "unhealthy.". Jorm was only ever meta in the Testing Grounds, partly due to his Feats.
I think it's worth mentioning that both of these heroes have been nerfed somewhat since this video went live, which means we're 100% looking at them.
B. Hito got nerfed in a way that addressed the main "heby on red" criticism in response to community feedback. She's no longer picked much in tournament play. I think this happened before January, so I find the mention of her a bit strange.
C. The maker of the video seems to not like passive play (i.e. Lawbringer). This is the kind of play we had at launch, which we've been moving further away from. I don't necessarily know if he's nostalgic for Season 1 or what have you.for honor once felt satisfying to play, but then they dumbed it down for a general audience. The heroes that once were unique and felt beefy have lost their personality, they don't feel fun anymore since the new meta is a spam meta. You all know what I'm talking about and I'm sure you all do it since I do too as it's what the game has become. Once it was rewarding to win a fight since you would have to use your full arsenal of moves, mix up, dodges, parries you name it. You'd be on the edge of your seat during a fight back then.
D. I don't personally feel overwhelmed by the presence of one or two heroes in Dominion matchmaking. This is highly anecdotal, but still. Plenty of Orochis out there, which is one of the heroes that he says his friends can't find much success with. I see other Nuxia players out in the wild from time to time.
E. Being toxic in chat is obviously not cool. It's something that can be reported using in-game tools. But toxic "playing" is a really nebulous concept. Psychologically, this is what happens to me when I lose a Duel to someone who spams emotes:
"I'm bummed that I lost."
*witnesses emote spamming*
But the person I lost to is a bad person.
*redirects anger toward this subject*
F. If I lose to someone "7 times in a row" it's because they're better than me or I don't know how to counter their hero. I get absolutely bamboozled by every single Shugoki mix-up, but I'm not going to come on here and say Shugoki is objectively overpowered because of me dying a lot. That wouldn't be a very convincing argument.
Lastly, matchmaking is a constant priority, and the mechanical concerns he mentions are things I regularly bring up with the team. Revenge has been looked at a bunch, and is in a better state now (though not perfect).
His point goes far beyond just "passive play". He says Lawbringer is unhealthy for the game because a lot of things he does can't be punished by the kit owned by certain characters, rendering those characters useless and forces players go "go back to their main"... which in turn kills diversity. This started to happen a lot since Ubisoft started to speed up recoveries left and right.Originally Posted by UbiInsulin Go to original post
Here are a couple of exemple from a Shinobi perspective charging a ranged GB :
LB misses a shove against your ally, you throw a ranged GB and the LB will recover fast enough to counter the GB.
LB performs an unblockable heavy 3rd attack in his chain, you throw a ranged GB and the LB will recover fast enough to counter the GB.
etc.
For more than half the characters in this game, Shinobi gets a garanteed ranged GB after a whiff bash or after any attacks his opponent does that ends a combo chain. LB, Kensei, Black Prior dont have that vulnerability.
As a Shinobi players, there are some characters in this game (mostly Lawbringer, Black Prior and Kensei) presenting 0 openings for ranged GB. This wasn't the case before, but it is now. This is the comment the maker of the video was trying to make. Some characters have no more openings for garanteed punish from certain other classes, rendering those classes useless. As such, people playing those alternate characters quickly realize those characters are useless and "go back to their main". As a result, you now see a lawbringer in every single dominion game you'll play.
I mean, if we take a moment to think about it, it's pretty simple. Ubisoft needs to take 5 minutes out of their day and read the forums. What's the point of all of us reading and replying to threads if Ubisoft doesnt even read them? Because I'm sure if they did, they would have made some changes that would actually benefit the game
@UbiInsulin
Yesterday I decided to play my Nobushi again since I hadn't touched it in a while and here's how it went.
There was a Lawbringer on the opposite team afk, I started attacking him (I was full health, stam) and I was oos by the time I got him down to just above 1/4 hp. (no I was just not spamming heavies on where he wasn't guarding) I was going for mix up's initiated with Cobra Strike.
Also felt like her attacks barely scratch a lawbringer.
I mean obviously something's wrong there right, if I can't even take out an AFK player without running out of stamina?
Lucky for me his team wasn't aware of what was happening, but if even one of them had shown up I'd have been dead for sure. Being oos on a Nobu feels like an eternity.
I really wanted to uninstall, but I still have a slither of hope left in me that FH would get an amazing revival. let's see.

In terms of this video, I think most of his topics have been addressed with actual changes. That doesn't mean every problem named has been completely solved, but at least addressed with changes to the game.
LB has a higher health pool, and there's no question that's an advantage. But I think overall, we want a range of heroes with different health pools. He's a big lad.Originally Posted by Real_Doll Go to original post
Damage and stamina were pretty different in the Testing Grounds. Hard to say how it impacts being able to 150>0 a defenseless Lawbringer without going OOS, but going OOS after one careless light attack being parried was not a concern.
Thank you for bringing up examples of the specific heroes that have quick recoveries on bashes/heavy finishers. That is very interesting from a Shinobi's perspective. Recoveries are still an underrated part of what makes heroes work, I think. His point goes far beyond just "passive play". He says Lawbringer is unhealthy for the game because a lot of things he does can't be punished by the kit owned by certain characters, rendering those characters useless and forces players go "go back to their main"... which in turn kills diversity. BTW, recoveries on light attacks and heavy finishers were standardized to 700ms across the cast in Testing Grounds.
Shinobi is a hero I bring up a lot internally.
I was mainly addressing OP with that point, not the video maker. I didn't think the video was necessarily in line with the nostalgia for launch For Honor. I am in agreement that bad match-ups can lead to a stressful Dominion session, and that Shinobi's not in a great place right now.
LB is a nightmare to deal it. I don't know how he got nerfed really. So many things wrong with him. It has been brought many times here I'm not going to write again.
Now Jorg...Most unintelligently designed hero in this game (understatement). A hero ignores my revenge attack block UB HA kick bash and I allow him to interrupt and punch me. 2 punches and OOS. It is extremely gimmicky to dodge the punch. People can't simply can't dodge it. He is the ganking God in 4v4. Just punch 2 times in 4v4 because it is safe as hell. It's not an attack cant be blocked cant be dodged because probably will be staggered 2 times boom on the ground 50 damage straight and everybody else boom dead. Fighting him instantly OOS now facing 33/33/33. Do you want to get hit and be on the ground or GB on the ground or punched on the ground? Then he gets massive shield seriously? Absolutely cancer to fight against. Seriously I'm very disappointed. His feats are very very strong. Also gets revenge boom knockdown 65 damage very healthy again. They really ruined the game even more with this guy.
Hito was my solution to light attack spam. Finally it was my turn to attack. Then she got nerfed heavily became pretty much unviable. Because everything she does Jorg does better HA UB everything. But hang on Jorg has better HA? Zerk has nearly constant HA? Shugoki has constant HA? Alright. But I also understand because people just abuse the moves. Just spamming with HA and winning.
I also play with Nobu my main since start of the game. Rep 70 long time ago. If you are playing with Nobu forget about winning. She is only hero never received a buff but got nerfed over and over. Is there any hero in this game their feat or move taking away? They took her full health recovery feat away? Okay fair enough but why did they give BP health regen in a fight? Why Shaman does 50 damage and heals or why Shugoki grabs and heals? Why Jorg does 50 damage and gets 50 shield? Isn't it inconsistent?
They nerfed her damage. Bleed was extra now it is a burden. They nerfed her damage by 20 percent. Now to do same damage I have to apply bleed which is a disadvantage. PK gets bleed free after heavy. As Nobu I have to apply it as a separate attack. Either I have to waste a heavy parry on it or I have to throw easiest to parry light attack in this game. Sometimes I look I literally land 6 7 attack I don't even see more than 1 bar going on enemy.
They gave vipers retreat to compensate for the nerfs but all of a sudden it's taken away like why?
Another big problem for Nobu is stamina. It doesnt exist. I have no stamina to defend no stamina to attack. I throw few attacks instantly OOS. She already has easiest to parry attacks and low stamina ruins her. Do 2 HS and OOS. And it is an eternity to recover stamina. Probably longest in the game. People without feat go OOS after me and recover before me. Nobushi will be OOS more than she has stamina at any time of the fight.
HS got a heavy nerf. Okay CGB on HS was strong but hang on. JJ has a better move. He can back dodge to 5 steps away and literally recover full stamina within less than a second. You won't be able to catch him before he recovers. HS can only be done about 2 times on full stamina.
Then they removed heavy block into kick. Her only half viable opener. Nice.
Her kick is her Achilles heel. Kick literally doesn't cover any distance. It's like she is kicking where she stands. Very easy to dodge. Only does bleed damage but gives GB?!? Minimum damage maximum punish.
She has no gap closer. When I do HS and people take a step back there is nothing i can do. She is supposed to be nimble but in fact very slow.
Her Dodge attacks doesn't dodge anything. Zone doesn't catch anything. Supposed to have range and arc but I know for a fact Raider or Kensei has it better.
No UB no HA no opener low stamina.
Revenge? Forget about it. It doesn't exist for her. I could be ganked by 3 guys for 5 min still get nothing.
I have to play quadruple times better than the other guy every single time.
