gotta low how you're trying to discredit the entire thing entirely based on the fact that he said trying to parry a jorm is a suicide and then he actually parries one. everyone who plays for honor knows that block and parry work when they work or you could time everything right and block/parry and your opponent will still manage to land the hit on you as if you stood still there, I don't know the tech behind it, maybe it's the internet connection, maybe it's your opponents internet, maybe it's the games way of balancing your k/d, no one knows.1:16 dude says going for a parry is suicide against a Jorm, 6:43 shows a guy get two light parries back to back against a Jorm player.
Yep, seems legit XD
I know this video is like them hard to swallow pills for some of you but in the end it just goes over about half the things that are wrong with for honor.
I mean before I even clicked on the video I had some idea of what it was like. But to his credit there are some decent points in there. I just don't agree with his overall tone with some of it. But i'll cover the same 3 topics he did:
The meta:
He's right that LB is meta and Hito was for a time until she was nerfed (including some feat nerfs.) I don't think Jorge is meta nor really has been. She might be at some point once the TG changes go live. What I dislike here from this section is mainly the part where he's essentially main shaming. He's also stating said players "create the meta" when it's more accurate to say players find the meta. But that's more of a minor nitpick out of it all. It seems like the negative tone plus constant mentioning of "50/50's" seems like he dislikes having to make reads. This is confusing because he seems to also hate the passive/reactive style. Perhaps further clarification from the YTer would be helpful in this regard.
Also I found it a bit funny that the guy mentions baiting and parrying as a legitimate tactic to counter orochi dodge attacks (implying those are somehow strong) but then implies heros like LB do not have counter play even though one of the strongest aspects to LB being side dodge shove on red is actually countered by baiting and dodging for a GB. Overall if I completely ignore the specifics that the person mentions it seems like he dislikes passive/reactive play in a broad sense based on not only his mention of it by naming 3 heros that at some point or still do benefit from that approach heavily. So. Yeah. I dislike that style of play too.
The toxic playerbase:
Short section here. I'll just have to disagree though. In my experience most of the time i've ever mentioned the playerbase being toxic it's almost always came from long time players and not new players. It's really my word vs his but the number one thing i've seen that keeps people from getting into the game is more so how confusing it is/learning curve to an extent. LoL is the only game i've ever heard about where people actively avoid it due to "toxicity."
I've seen more trash talking on average on my time with pc versus console. But i'd still say it's a stretch to label the community in it's entirety toxic. I've made a lot of friends playing this game and met plenty of strangers that are real chill about things. Also I particularly don't enjoy the mindset he supports of "if that guy just played a fair hero i'd have beaten him." It's not a helpful mindset to have. And chances are if you're that tilted over a hero the person could probably switch to some other character and still win. It's a loser's mentality that prevents you from becoming a better player.
The matchmaking:
Yes. MM is a problem. No, it's not actually because of SBMM. It's actually do to a lot more behind the scenes issues that the general playerbase isn't aware of. But there's really no point in elaborating further on that. So yeah everyone agree's its a problem. I do. And so do comp players. He's just blaming the wrong thing. And me being my nitpicky self had to point that out.
The mechanics:
"revenge is broken." ehhhh. wouldn't use the term broken. But agree. it still needs tweaks.
"going through guard." this is a latency thing. It's more pronounced on reflex because you have to refresh your guard on every hit.
And yeah, most of us want reflex to be gone at this point. But the devs stated they're not going to make guard type changes. So we're SoL there.
So yeah, like I said in the beginning. Some decent points. Even if I take issue with a lot of the specifics being mentioned. I personally don't play anymore. Since about Zhanhu's release i've not been as active. Really only hopping on to fill out a team for my friends or to try an event. Testing grounds changes rolls around and I actually had fun with the game again. I've already mentioned it to my friends but if those TG changes don't come to live I am uninstalling. As the way FH is right now is impossible to enjoy. And I severly doubt the devs are capable of finding another solution to make the game fun that isn't those specific TG changes.
Nah, not worth a deep dive into the whole thing. The title says it all, it's click bait. Only halfway decent arguments aren't even addressed until the Youtuber gets his cry baby rant off. And that's exactly what his first two Power Points are. So realistically, it doesn't matter how valid his second half was, he lost it before he started.
he sounded pretty relaxed and reasonable to me.. not sure how that comes off as crying.Nah, not worth a deep dive into the whole thing. The title says it all, it's click bait. sounds like you're upset here? like I said, hard to swallow pills.
edit: just gonna say this and get this out there, ever since the original creative director left the studio the game has been going to ****, and I'm sure as time passed by the original dev team has moved around too.
for honor once felt satisfying to play, but then they dumbed it down for a general audience. The heroes that once were unique and felt beefy have lost their personality, they don't feel fun anymore since the new meta is a spam meta. You all know what I'm talking about and I'm sure you all do it since I do too as it's what the game has become. Once it was rewarding to win a fight since you would have to use your full arsenal of moves, mix up, dodges, parries you name it. You'd be on the edge of your seat during a fight back then.
Holy **** I remember how psyched I was when i saw the centurion and shinobi trailer.
but now.. now you all know how it goes. they haven't even fixed the random disconnects first.
The original devs did a great job with for honor, but whoever took over after that ran it to the ground.
now I know people are gonna come in here and try to dismiss my points: usually it goes like "oh I've never had that happen to me" but yeah everyone who has invested a decent amount of time in to the game around it's launch knows exactly what I'm talking about. It's not the same anymore.
Unfortunately as a person who played this game since the beta I have to agree.
This game had problems yes but it was about skill and mind games. Now the game reduced to light and CC spam and abuse of the mechanics. Devs wanted to guess not react so that's what we are doing now as they call reading. Now they are trying to save the game by TG changes.
Jorg is the most ridiculously designed hero in this game and doesn't bring any value. He is a nightmare to deal it. He also mentioned LB which is very true in my opinion. He is also very cancer. Impale massive punish ledge massive HP UB every direction stun stamina massive parry punish and why the hell HP on his bash? I had countless times people lose and rematch and play LB. We already know BP and how people abuse Hito.
Toxic players again countless times I have seen. People just choosing Raider WL or LB waiting in the zone just to spike you or ledge you. They miss they go run again over and over. Or countless cases of playing against 4 Shugoki or Cent or LB. I might as well drop the controller and pick up my pop corn because I know I'm not going to control my character anymore.
Matchmaking also bad. It has been posted here dozens times. I cant play duel or tournament anymore because I feel sorry. I dont want to discourage people from playing the game.
Big topic of revenge. Utterly broken as a fact. I shouted here. Ruins the game.
The light spam meta isn't a thing because it has counters I just do not realize why people just not try to
"learn the game" you can react to them you just don't realize it because your all frustrated over your mistakes
if your gonna be mad about lights do that when lights have dancing ballerina animations
then you'd quit the game because the animation will become too ridiculous for you to react.
So be happy that nvr happens and just imagine all the characters twirling around their weapons whilst smacking ya for poorly learning
the animations.
P.S. lights will nvr be slowed for your pleasure so learn the animation because it will nvr come back to how it is before for
it was abandoned because of the turtle meta.
"3:41 I've even see it with my own friends, they try to play heroes like Shinobi or Oroch iand then immediately go back to their main after losing to a Lawbringer 8 times in a row."
This quote echoes what I've been saying about the Shinobi since August 2019...the Shinobi is NOT viable because by default he is at a complete disadvantage against most other heroes.
And yet Ubisoft continues to nerf the Shinobi as if the hero isn't already trash in the current meta.
As far as I am concerned this game has lost all enjoyment ever since Patch 2.11 and this is why I stopped playing the game. Myself and many others have been complaining about the Shinobi for 8 months, so obviously the devs don't even listen to their community because if they did then they would have done something about the pathetic state of weaker heroes by now.
Ubisoft is completely ruining their own game.
I also agree that their matchmaking system is garbage and that revenge is a broken mechanic.
