I didn't play GR BP before the free weekend, to be honest I haven't played the GR games in a long time. So my experience is only with immersive mode and the episode 2 content on PC.
I love it.
Aside from the few bugs I have experience, I'm having a lot of fun. The most glaring bug is the key binding issue with certain abilities. I guess I can see how that slipped through. It has caused me quite a few death because I bind my turn right to E and E picks up a weapon. I've encountered only two environment bugs where I got stuck, and maybe a couple of graphical ones which I discount due to the variations of hardware. I can deal with a lot if that key binding bug gets fixed and UbiSoft is working on it per some forum responses so I'm good to wait.
The only other complaint I have is when I get attached to a cover environment when trying to escape an enemy. That's caused a couple of deaths and a lot of cursing (my dog brought me some soap to wash my mouth out with) but I can adjust to it. I look at it as having to play a bit better.
So, Immersive Mode? Love it. The ability to customize the game difficulty, things like injuries, UI displays, etc. is fantastic. I have it set to a moderately hard setting and it's great. No gear levels mean I just look at pure weapon stats to determine which weapon is best for what I need. I don't have to go crazy upgrading gear every time I level like in Division 2 which I recently have been playing. I think this mode needs to be in every game going forward, it just gives players more choices.
