Wow....that is a really jerk move Realdude. Just because people didn't buy WONY they don't get access to the apparel event? That is just....wow.

Completely agreed. You have companies such as Paradox which gave 100% of sales from their products to Covid-19 research for a period of days, then you get a completely different money grabbing approach here by Massive.....buy to participate (money before players), reduce drops to make completion 33% more time consuming (money before players).

Tells you a great deal about the DNA of a company.

I created a thread about this but didn't get any response so might as well write it here. It does seem you need to have the DLC in order to have access to any future content. For me this is the main reason I won't be getting it anymore, although I did plan to buy it later when bugs were ironed out. But I decided not to invest in any DLC of this game, or sequel. Today I was about to start the game but couldn't do it, total loss of interest, guess it will be uninstall button instead of play at later point. The base game has reached the last station on the track, so it's time to get out of the train.

I think you will find that Ubisoft actually owns this game and controls how the game is handled.

It is very common for a publisher to guarantee funds only if the developers relinquish most, if not all, rights.

I feel very certain that WoNY was not ready for prime time but the Ubisoft corporate monster said DO IT NOW !!!

That's why they promised free DLC but had to go back on it because the corporate monster demands more than
    the game was giving.

    It's a vicious circle.

Don't worry, even as a player investing a lot more time than the average and owning the expansion it is impossible to complete the event. This is not just for WoNY players only, it is for WoNY 24/7 players only.

Considering I have to work from home now for reasons you are probably aware of I could probably do it actually, grinding 5+ hours a day for weeks straight is a little too crazy for me even under the circumstances though. I'll rather invest the effort into several home improvement projects I've been dodging for years.

Dear lord I've never seen so much whining and crying from grown ups then I've seen in this forum. You all sound like spoiled children that their parents refused them the candy in the store. If you want to play the content that is tied with the expansion, buy the expansion. It's as simple, as that. Every game EVER that had expansion had done this -- blocking the expansion content behind the need to purchase the expansion.

If you want to get the items from the apparel event, then play the game and collect them or do your damn home improvement project. But for the love of everything that is holly, stop crying like kids in the forums of a damn computer game. It's absolutely pathetic.

Here is an example for you. You go into a restaurant. You order a meal, you finish it up. But then you feel like you could use a dessert. Oh but.. wait. Surprise, surprise. You -have- to pay extra for the dessert. Do you tell the waiter that this is a ****ty move that they want you to pay extra for the dessert, even though you already paid for your meal before that? That you think you should get the dessert free? Guess what will happen? They will kick you out. That's how things function in the world. Not sure why people don't understand that video games aren't any different then any other service out there.

Video games and other digital services ARE different.

A dessert will require substantial extra effort and materials every single time it is prepared, adjusting the access to digital content is a one time decision with no additional workload associated.
