    Technical question about what stats/attributes effect Shields and Hives skills.

    SHIELDS

    I know that skill tiers effect some stats, but is the shield effected by anything else?

    What causes shield health/regen to increase?
    What sets the base health value of the shield?
    Does it inherit any value from your own base stats, or is it a static value set by the number of Blue + Yellow core attributes?
    Does the Mod "X Damage Bonus (Per Enemy)" actually do anything for shields other than the Reflector?

    There's the Motherly Love" gloves that have 20% skills health, and the "Forge" Holster that increases shield health directly. But is it effected by anything else? Any cool named items or set bonuses out there I should be aware of?

    HIVES

    What stats effect the rate of charge regen? Is it just Skill haste?
    Does the Stinger Hive only do bleed damage, or is there an extra regular damage component as well?
    Does "Skill Damage" effect all the damage a hive does, or only non-status effect damage?

    Are there any other under-the-hood mechanics about shields or skills that might be useful to know, in a general sense?

    Shield does get benefits from skilltier, armor core slot(counting as 1 skilltier per equipped item)
    motherly love will increase the health by 20% of the upgraded value after counting all skilltiers/armor attributes
    forge will increse the health by 10% of the base value NOT counting any upgrades from skill tiers/armor attributes
    Shield will NOT benifit from any explosive resistance or protection from elites that you have
    the mod "X% bonus dmg for enemies in front of you" will only affect the bonus you get from the firewall specialization shield
    the liberty talent could be considered "cool bonus", every body shot on enemies adds one count up to 30, every headshot conumes all counts and heals the active shield by 3% per count, so up to 90%heal
    also the artifices hive from technician will heal your shield depending on its skill tier every time the buff runs out(10s base time) and can be stacked to full heal with high skilltier and repair skill

    additionally shields take (atm) 3.5-4.5 times as much dmg as your character would, due to being bugged, meaning that the 16+ million health of max bullwark are worth less then 4m effectual health

    So the only way to increase shield health is through effective Skill Tiers(Yellow or Blue)?

    I'd forgotten about the Liberty pistol. That's a good choice.

    yellow and blue, plus the Technician Spec if you want to go down the Pistol only Tank route.

    Artificer Hive/Bulwark Sheild/Skill haste/Point man chest piece(Gila) Safeguard on backpack or Protector, And the Forge Holster is a must.

    I have 3 blue and 2 yellow on the shield skill tier 5 , the Tech specialization also gives you Amped +1 skill tier /Techno talent gain 15% bonus armour whilst aiming a skill (your shield out is aiming /Enhanced Diagnostics +10% skill healing (most of those are passive talents.


    As for the actual gear that's your choice can go down the True Patriot route or incoming repairs and skill haste route with yellow gear.

    My shield is at 14 million health with a reapir artificer hive on a 2.7 second cooldown,

    Done Heroic solo with the build (but pistols do take time to kill bosses .

    This was a quick test 4 days ago of an early version of my build with lees cooldown repair and less armour/shield health, as you can see it's almost indestructible.

    The electro purple flash is the artificer hive on your back (don't have to lay it down)

    As for Safeguard it seems to proc when I have my shield out (shield is a skill) and safeguard is = While at full armour Increase total skill repair by 100%

    Artificer hive is a skill repair

    Hmm...I'm not seeing any indications of bonus armor when my shield is out. Are you sure about that?

    Also, I guess I wonder if the natural shield regeneration falls under "Skill Repair". That's one of the things I thought about Safeguard too, but I have no way to test it.

    Just done a test with my healer survivalist build with heeler seekers, the safeguard symbol proc hardly appears.but I had a turret out.

    But with the shield up its constantly showing so I presume it's active.

    ., The Artificer hive is constantly reapiring anyway 2.7 sec cooldown plus safeguard

    So personally I think safeguard comes in with the hive on skill repairing.

    Safeguard gives you skill repairs not bonus armour

    Yes, sorry. I was crossing my topics for a second. I mean I wasn't seeing any bonus armor from using my shield with the Techno perk out of the Technician specialization.


    It would be very interesting if Safeguard worked on natural shield regen. That's pretty sick!
