That is the ban wave. The players who were waiting for the right moment to take the chance to exploit a bug/glitch are now gone. Considering how long the glitch wasn’t fixed, it might’ve just be the Dev’s plans to actually see how many people were willing to abuse the glitch, and probably decided “You know what? Time to hit the erase button.” when the number of glitchers probably stopped peaking.
... Just my simple opinion.. but ubisoft/massive is a business company! As you can see there is a new apparel event and you can receive loot drop true gaining XP (every 4 levels) or buying for real money credits!! Do you think they will risk to let the glitcher exploit the event? Probably the opportunity of free aesthetic stuff will push more players to use the glitch!! It's business and as a business man I will do the same for preserve my company income!Originally Posted by ZekrudaZ Go to original post
Well to be honest it probably went down like this :
- Hey theres a dps glitch, have you heard? Can we plug it asap before it gets out of hand?
- Sure give me 2 weeks to figure out the code by the random guy we outsourced the work to , to make the turrets.
- You dont have 2 weeks we need to address this now !!
(2 weeks go by and 3 failed patches later)
-Hey where we at with that dps glitch?
-I cant fix it ...but hey i wrote a script that detects high dps numbers so we can track who's doing it.
-Cool heres what we do , we suspend their accounts ,it will cause a uproar and divide the playerbase so they fight between them for a bit and that should buy us some time to fix it.
-But shouldnt we issue a appology to the legit players aswell?
- No its cool, you see , we'll add a rollback to it aswell so attention is diverted away from us again and let the tear into each other for a bit. Meanwhile we talk about releasing a balance and bugfix update and by 7 days all this will have blown over when they see the shiny new things introduced.
(8.5 comes out)
-So uproar as predictedHave we fixed the hive to show em?
-No
-...The damage from npcs?
-No....
-The boxes and droptables dropping purples in heroic?
-No......
-BTSU gloves and other legenaries dropping with crap stats?
-No.....
-DAMMIT what have we fixed?
-Well ...I lowered the hearth of the Npcs and changed the target priority to be skills and not players. Should give them a extra 2 seconds of survivability.
(its pretty much what we do at my work all the time when managment comes in and asks us to do to much work. You see managment doesnt realy understand what we actually do and how long it takes and usualy by the first 5-6 big computer words they have lost intrest and have left us alone to define our own timeline.
Now granted I havent got a clue about the complex databases game design has, our company tracks 25000 vehicles on a daily basis real-time and when stuff breaks we dont appologise either, shows weakness and liability BUT we fix it pronto or heads roll.)
Ps and in the off chance that a truck driver finds a way to access the embedded smartphone in his truck and watches porn you know what the FIRST question is ? -How the hell did we let this slip past us ?!?!?! and there is hell to pay. (ofc we blamed the driver, like our situation, which is fair, cause he was tampering with stuff he shouldn't be tampering with. BUT WE FIX IT! not tommorrow, not next week, or month or eventually but right there and then.
