I think I found a good analogy for dps glitch ban

    Casino!

Imagine you are playing a slot machine. You put your penny in the machine. You pull the lever. The slot machine does its business.

    Nothing wrong here right?

You play again. You put your penny in the machine. This time, you wait 5 seconds before pulling the lever. Yay! Winner!

Being superstitious, you repeat the process. Every time you wait 5 seconds before pulling the lever, you end up winning.

The casino notices that you are winning way too much.

They ban you from their casino and take back all the money you won.

Clearly, the machine has faults. Clearly, the customer exploited the faulty machine. However, was the customer committing a crime?

Unless you're a youtuber of course. Then they'll let you stay and get away with it because the casino will cut it's losses.

The machine is faulty. It pays out on 2 secs, 3 secs, 4 secs, 5 secs, 6 secs, 7 secs and 8 secs. But just ban the 5 second crew.

Then there's the doorman or bouncer. They'll come along and throw you out if you're one of those 5 seconds guys that's going to spread bad publicity or share your findings, just like the mods are going to lock this thread.

Crime....no. Clearly this customer is an idiot though and knows he has a chance to get caught. See broken ATM.....

At the same second you get suspecious and notice the machine behaves wrongly.
You shall stop playing it and report it to the casino.

Then move on to another machine that works.

That is the right behavior.. Same when you finda glitch.
Reort it stop using it and move on. Dont use it for your own favor.

I dont know many people who would do this ( human nature). But it is still the right thing to do.
I know for sure i wouldnt report the machine. I would take the chance that casino didnt notice.
And most important i would stop before it was too late.

Usually the idiots aren't the ones winning.

Nah, not a good analogy really. All gambling games are statistically skewed in favour of the house. You lost when you walked in.

    no nothing like right

    a better one is this

"you know something is wrong and against the rules. you do it anyway to get phat loot, you get caught you get punished"

do you not think it funny just how much time and mental gymnastics all these anti ban threads have in common? trying to repaint an extremely simple and clear issue as something else.
if you stand on your head squint and read it backwards then all of a sudden im not responsible for my actions.

you made your choice , pay your bill.

In other words, you think the customer should have informed the casino of the faulty machine and stopped exploiting it?

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but yes, such things have happened. And the customers usually don't get to keep the money, just like Div2 players don't get to keep the items. It does not matter whether it was the machine's fault or the user's. What matters is that the user was not supposed to win the money / obtain the overpowered DPS. You can find a lot of different cases here:
    https://easy.vegas/games/slots/malfunctions

And yes, if a casino sees that a customer tries to abuse malfunctions instead of reporting them, they can and will be banned from visiting it again.

Perhaps the analogy fits better than you think.

yep knowing it was exploit he did. To stupid realizing it was a exploit, same. Enough?
Not sure what this analogy will fix, those who cheated know they did and they got the punishment, to mild imo but better then nothing.
