Starting a new game on Immersive mode with gear score off completely disables the function and need for armor.
Gear score of 150 is unfortunately needed to RAID and so with gear score off, one will never level to play RAID. On the flip side, turning on gear score removes the ability to pick up weapons from dead enemies, which hurts the immersive experience.
If gear score is going to continue to be a requirement, then please level players "under the hood" based on the weapons and gear they pick up.
Allow us to pick up random gear as well as the option to "Skin Override". Ubisoft has done a great job of giving players options to tailor the game independently of other players. Now take another step forward and consolidate the players, so a player from any mode can reach requirements for RAID or any future event.
The system is probably changing to weapons you already have. Starting a new character your weapons will be a gear score of 8. If you continue to play in immersive mode, you will not increase in gear score.
