After reading the upcoming patch notes I really liked the majority of what I saw, except for the Sawyer Kneepads rework.
Sawyer's Kneepads are a defensive gear piece and this new rework is turning it into a weird hybrid piece that won't be better than a pure high end defensive piece with a defensive brand or the Fox's Prayer Kneepads. Don't go back to making hybrid gear pieces like you just tried to get away from in this update!
This new rework will have Sawyer's Kneepads roll armor, explosive resistance and health and up to 30% damage IF standing still for 10 seconds. At max roll, Fox's prayer gives 15% weapon damage, 15% out of cover damage and either crit chance/crit damage/headshot damage without restricting movement. There are too many mechanics that require you to move in this game so sitting in place for 10 seconds will never out perform unrestricted movement. Fox's Prayer will still prove better than Sawyer's in terms of damage.
This would be my suggestion if you are intending to add a competitor against Fox's kneepads-
Modify ninjabike messanger kneepads:
Performing a cover to cover or vaulting reloads your drawn weapon and amplifies total weapon damage by 15% for 10 seconds. (This should be amplified damage because the Out of cover damage coming from Fox's Prayer is a damage amplifying stat and is not added to another category)
This would provide competition to Fox's prayer while allowing a Sawyer's kneepads rework to actually be usable for defensive builds!
Exotics should fit into a specific playstyle and not a hybrid set up like this change of the Sawyer's Kneepads would do. I suggest something more along the lines of these-
Suggested reworks for Sawyer's Kneepads (there is sooo much more you could do for tanks/bruiser builds!):
Cannot be staggered by explosions.
After being affected by a status effect, immediately gain 5-30% damage resistance to that hazard for 10 seconds depending on the number of blue core attributes equiped. Can occur once every 40 seconds.
Or
Cannot be staggered by explosions.
After being hit by an explosion or affected by a status effect increase yours and your teams weapon damage by half of your damage resistance to that type for 15 seconds. Can occur once every 60 seconds.
Or
Cannot be staggered by explosions.
After being hit by an explosion or affected by a status effect drop a decoy at a skill tier equal to your blue defensive attributes. Can occur once every 60 seconds.
Or
Cannot be staggered by explosions.
After hitting an enemy with an explosion or applying a status effect to an enemy, generate x% threat for 10 seconds (uses the same threat mechanic as the decoy)
