I haven't done a thread on these forums in quite some time, but since Far Cry 5 recently had it's 2nd anniversary, I thought I'd go ahead and do one.
Below is a video I did recently to showcase all of the maps I've done between March 27th 2019 - 2020.
If you look back at your own maps from year two, feel free to discuss your most and least favorites and why. Thanks to Ubisoft for providing us the fantastic map editor within Far Cry 5!
My favorite year two map that I made has to be Hitman - Montana. I'm surprised by how well I was able to recreate the feeling of a Hitman level. There are a decent amount of ways to take out your targets even with the limited tools and weapons at my disposal compared to the actual Hitman series. The map is also one of my best visually and feels very much alive with the civilians and wildlife around, each with their own animation points to help with the immersion. Civilians walk the sidewalks, or some doing different things such as moving out of a house or helping a civilian whose car has broken down on the side of the road. I'm satisfied with how this map turned out and though I'd love to do another Hitman-inspired map, I think it'll be hard to top Hitman - Montana.
My least favorite year two map that I made is Lyte Arena 2085. Though it looks interestingly unique compared to other vehicle arena maps (and can make for some good screenshots in photo mode), it's definitely a strange one. And due to the vehicle limits in place in the editor on consoles (supposedly mods on PC would've fixed this?), it becomes very boring once all vehicles are destroyed. The solo version feels like a roadkill sim since there are only a few vehicles enemies can drive and the rest have to walk. The multiplayer version from what I've played (was only able to play twice) just isn't fun. Few people drive the cars and prefer to camp. Compare this map to Aspen Derby Circuit from year one where there I always see people drive around and chase each other and therefore becomes quite fun to play. Aspen Circuit plays a lot better than Lyte Arena because of this. Maybe for year three I'll do a map similar to Aspen Circuit which is easily one of my favorite creations.
