GUITAR Challenge: BiWeek 14 – Manic Street Preachers - A Design for Life (Lead)

Welcome to the revamped Guitar Challenges!!

    Here’s how it works:

    • Every two weeks we will select a song that will be the focus of our practice and play during the challenge. The goal here is to create a community environment where we encourage and help one another to improve/polish our guitar playing.

    • ANYONE can join in – from absolute beginners to guitar aficionados.

    • While practicing in Learn-a-song and Riff Repeater will almost certainly be a part of challenge, each participant will eventually need to submit a score in Score Attack by the end of the challenge.

    • You can complete Score Attack at ANY level of difficulty: Easy, Medium, or Hard.

    • To participate, simply reply to this song thread with your level, score, accuracy, and note streak in the title. For example: HSA 1,000,000 | 98% | 389 NS | Next: Kiss - Love Gun.

    • Your song choice for the next challenge should also be listed in your title or post.

    • If you want, you can also post a screenshot from your Score Attack in your post.

    • If you improve your score at any time during the challenge period, simply revise your earlier post with the new score.

    • At the end of the challenge period, we will choose a new song randomly from all the participants’ choices.

Our current challenge song is Manic Street Preachers - A Design for Life (Lead) . This challenge will run from March 30th - April 12th 2020.

    MSA 111,145 | 89.19% | 59 ns |

02.04. A rather steep learning curve on this one, mastering MSA will probably qualify for HSA also. After some riff repeating and checking ESA I was just able to pass the MSA, percentage is probably the lowest I have ever seen in a passing score. Well, at least there's now space to improve.
    MSA 37,269 | 78.14% | 35 NS |

05.04. Some progress, practising HSA but not able to cope it yet on full speed
    MSA 73,449 | 86.68% | 58 ns |

    09.04. A bit better still
    MSA 111,145 | 89.19% | 59 ns |

    HSA 321,110 | 122 ns | 96.41% - next: Runaway Train (L)

Before I started playing Rocksmith, this is one of the songs that I thought I could play... I now know differently. I'm definitely rather clumsy and there is also some notes that regularly drop in the arpeggio part. My goal was to get to 95% - which I succeeded with, but I think there is still much room for improvement to play this actually well!

Next: Soul Asylum - Runaway Train [Lead]

    HSA 284,031 | 95.25% | 109NS | Next: Melissa Etheridge - I'm the Only One

I'd never heard this song before -- I really enjoyed learning it!
Improved from easy to medium to hard score attack over the fortnight. Still rather sloppy....

    HSA 478,990 | 97.56% | 112 NS | Jethro Tull - Aqualung (Lead)

This song is great to practice. I was hoping to get a platinum pick on this attempt but had one yellow section near the end. Might give it another try later later, but probably won't do any better than this.
