My take on the story (DLC) so far (Spoilers might be ahead)

Well I cannot say that it has gotten better in terms of how entertaining the game is with the new Story. Again, the voice acting and dialogues, as well as the cutscenes are just horrible in my opinion. We have the nerdy guy, high tech brat that rebels against her mother, a corrupt military guy, the betrayer and the defector... everything that is cookie-cutter was in there. Okay, I have to say that I wasn't expecting something being reinvented, but that was just meh and could have been implemented way better.... Then the missions... Again, okay there is not much that can be said about them. Mostly the samey stuff like Greenstone had.

But the final mission.... what the hell didn't you understand in regards to the drones? I mean you also mentioned it in your own teaser. 'No one wants to fight the damn things' and yet you once more create an endboss that is just more drones that are controlled by Professor X... This whole thing is getting more and more Scify nonsense again. The kidnapped operators strapped to those mind sucking VR chairs..... Sorry, but that is just ridiculous and it did start rather promising with the silent approach.

Also those damn drones are still like on speed spraying bullets from their limitless supply. Playing it on the new immersive version resulted in me getting an injury almost with every hit, stumbling and dying. Not sure, if that is a bug, or really intended. The whole fight was just BS. I am happy for everyone who enjoys this, but for me that is just what I said BS. Also so far I didn't really see how you would spend 7+ hours of playtime in it. Well maybe if you add walking, driving and getting stuck somewhere as well as retries due to dying through other bugs, or the now what seems to be an even more sticky cover version to it. (I couldn't walk through a door again, because the character just stuck to the sides every time I tried)

Another thing I have to say is that I think you really screwed over the people that bought only the main game. Adding finding Midas into a payed DLC is just a shady practice of getting others to buy the stuff as well. So far that is my take on the story. Nothing really has improved here in my opinion.

Oh and one thing. Fisher and Coste were already on the island for months and didn't even try to contact Nomad after he started to wreak havoc all over the island?????? A little hard to believe this part of the story, even IF they wanted to stay hidden.

I don't have the season pass so I only played the first mission, needless to say it and it's rewards are not enticing enough for me to invest more money on the game or bother to find someone with the content. It's actually cheaper just to buy the rewards from the store.

How did Sam get on the island and why doesn't he offer you a way off when he has a way.... It's more Swiss cheese for the sh!t sandwich that is the story.

That fight took me 3 tries to finish on hard difficulty, injuries set to often and a few bandages. Played the entire chapter 2 story solo as the echelon class. Was a tough fight, had to use healing items and EMP nades. Props to Ubi on the immersive mode changes and all the options to fine tune things to how you like to play. I bumped it down to hard from extreme because I made the game more difficult for myself in other ways thanks to the new options they added. Game feels better to play now.

Felt good to see Sam and hear Ironside's voice again. But unfortunately the dialog and overall story writing were on par with what we've seen before: pretty weak. Except for a few cases lines are still delivered monotonously and I agree with you about the character's lacking any depth. While it was nice to get some Spliter Cell vibes that illusion dissipated when you realize enemies are still not that smart and stealth is still pretty meh (to be fair GRB isn't mainly a stealth game). The game makes it very clear you're still in Auroa when you and Sam escape in the first (I think) mission by blowing up enemies along the way.

In the end you're left with the feeling that it was all just more of the same in terms of writing (bad), presentation (horrible) and mission structure&objectives (repetitive).

Would I recommend Deep State? Not really unless you feel like doing more of the same but with a slightly different coat of paint. The echelon NVGs are nice.

The way off the island is explained later I leave it for you in a spoiler tag if you like to know.

    Spoiler:  Show
One of the missions involves a specialist who's bratty and super intelligent daughter can give the paladin 9 aircraft a ten minute window through the swarm. Regarding how they got onto the island, they arrived months before the island was locked down apparently.

As I said, so far the DLC is more cookie-cutter and not really engaging in my opinion. In wildlands, I replayed the Splinter Cell story a few times, but here I am not feeling like I want to do it at any time at all.

Ok, the Missing in Action mission... I think the long, awkward silence during the vehicle sequence capsulates perfectly the essence of everything the community has disliked about Breakpoint. Both Fisher and Nomad can only sit in silent disgust as you are on rails, forced to explode countless vehicles which provide no actual challenge, serve no purpose from storytelling perspective and is just a slap across the face for both Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell. That kind of stuff would fit in a more action oriented title, if the sequence was done well which is most certainly not the case here.

What I really, really liked was the subtle nod to Amon Tobin's excellent Chaos Theory soundtrack in the song that plays when you approach the base where Fisher is hidden. I don't know if it was actually sampled in that song or the producer just used some similar elements but that gave me some goosebumps as it is still to this day one of the best soundtracks ever made.

The DLC story felt Ok to me, outside of Sam, there were only two missions/characters that stood out to me, the Mission with the Ex-Bodark guy because they're finally acknowledging previous GR, and that character is one of the roster of maybe 10 NPCs that actually belong in a GR, and the mission with the corrupt general because that mission was so good, it justified the DLC price for me, I genuinely think it is the best mission in both Breakpoint and Wildlands, I saw so many original Ideas in that one mission that it felt like actually original, fun, and that mission should be the standard for all future missions, I cannot put into words how incredible it was. The last mission was pretty great as well until the very end because of the fun police boss fight that completely soured it for me.

So essentially more Fido the Fetcher fetching things in order to then clear bases and have boss fights? Did I get that right?

Well...ehm he explained that... he was undercover as a Paladin 9, training Sentinel.

I played the first Mission, too and found it underwhelming and bland. The usual Ubisoft style. Not going to buy the DLC, no.

Yeah there is only two missions that doesnt have a forced firefight at the end, and that's the two I described, but only one of the other 8 is outright against drones and it's the last one.
